Job Description

Toro, Richard Sandoval's Restaurant and Tequila Bar, is seeking a Server to join their culinary excellence team. The Server will be an ambassador for exceptional service and cuisine, providing warm, personal attention and knowledge of offerings to guests. Responsibilities include greeting guests warmly, exhibiting sincere hospitality, assisting guests with menu items, understanding shift end reports and point of sale systems, and knowing all menu items and beverage promotions. The role also requires following brand policies, safety and sanitation standards, and hotel policies, as well as maintaining grooming guidelines. Flexible shifts including evenings and weekends are required.
Must have:
  • Previous server experience in high volume F&B
  • Knowledge of beer, wine, spirits
  • Previous POS experience
  • Excellent communication and organization
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work cohesively in a team
  • Ability to focus on guest needs
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Ability to work flexible schedule

It’s a celebration that’s shared, savored, and enjoyed with the finest spirits.  Join us in this ritual.  We welcome you to Toro, Richard Sandoval’s Restaurant and Tequila Bar, which features a casually unique upbeat dining experience.  Toro will have a small plate menu along with a Suviche (Sushi & Ceviche combination) bar food offering at the restaurant’s lively and energetic bar setting. The beverage experience will include a variety of hand-muddled cocktails, a collection of Latin wines, and a variety of sugarcane spirits that will be expertly chosen by our Tequila Experts.

Your Role: Cultivating Food & Beverage Excellence

As a Sever at Toro Chicago, by Richard Sandoval, you are an ambassador for the exceptional service and cuisine that are hallmarks of our food & beverage experience. Your warm, personal attention and knowledge of our outstanding offerings makes guests feel unique and valued.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Consistently offer a professional, friendly greeting and engaging service
  • Exhibit sincere hospitality. Go above and beyond for the guest. Be obsessed with guest satisfaction.
  • Assist guests regarding menu items in an informative and helpful way
  • Understand shift end reports in the outlet and the Point of Sale System
  • Understand all reservations systems and iPad systems for seating charts
  • Have knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents and preparation methods
  • Have full knowledge of beverage lists and promotions, menu items and preparation methods
  • Follow brand policies, procedures and service standards
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
  • Follow hotel time and attendance policy
  • Follow grooming and attire guidelines
  • Must be available to work flexible shifts including AM, PM, evenings and weekends
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation: $13.36 per Hour, tip eligible position.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Server in high volume food and beverage operation
  • Knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits as well as their preparation and presentation
  • Previous point of sale system experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, afternoons, nights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to): 

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
