Rolls-Royce is one of the biggest producers of wide body aircraft engines for Civil Aerospace and there is a position that have become available to join the Singapore Regional Engineering team.

The Services Technology Engineer role sits within the Engineering for Services function in Rolls-Royce, which is centrally accountable for all business divisions. This role will lead technology initiatives with knowledge and expertise on the development of new inspections, processes, and methods for engine overhaul and component repair capabilities in Rolls-Royce MRO shops – across our Civil Aerospace, Defense and Power Systems business. The candidate will need to evaluate stakeholder requirements and work closely with our Research Partners in region to evaluate potential solutions and deliver them on time. The candidate is expected to demonstrate understanding in disciplines of automation, materials and/or aerodynamics in support of deployment of new capability of the full product life-cycle.


Key Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate comprehensive problem definition and requirements capture skills to develop and formulate technology problem statements from various operational stakeholders. Work closely with other Rolls-Royce functions and customers (overhaul bases and component repair business units) to identify and implement new repair development and/or cost reduction projects.

  • Provide Technical leadership for processes like adaptive machining, automation or robotics and driving new process introduction in shop floor – aligned to future direction for developing strategic repairs within this region.

  • Be responsible for defined technical packages of work, providing leadership and delivery against programme milestones within agreed costs, timescales and quality requirements as part of the geared co-funded program. 

  • Understand current operational flow of engine overhaul process, and evaluate novel methods for improving turn around times, and efficiency improvements.

  • Resolve problems through evaluative judgements. Analyze factual information from multiple sources, interpret results and identifies effective solutions by applying their own technical knowledge, expertise and engineering judgement. This will be in line with delivering repair solution for repairs where there is a strong business pull and business case.

  • Prepare and deliver technical communications (e.g. presentation and/or reports) to platform provider, regulators, customers, internal stakeholder. Have excellent and effective Communications to manage stakeholders across diverse businesses, regions and backgrounds.

  • Support the overall CSC & Services Engineering strategies in region including the growth of repair capabilities and activities.

Key Experiences and any Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience – preferable in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Experience in robotics, machining or analytics, or development of new capabilities will be advantageous.

  • Strong Problem-solving capabilities, along with effective communication skills.

  • An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking to a range of technical problems.

  • Good global communication and presentation skills and have the ability to develop strong relationship across multiple functions, partners, suppliers and cultures

  • Proficient IT skills, basic Microsoft office suite ability 

  • Ability to work independently on complex tasks that are novel and ambiguous

  • Experience with big data analytic tools like Tableau/PowerBi/Matlab or other programming expertise will beneficial
