Software Development Engineer 3

The Software Development Engineer 3 will work on the Adobe Analytics platform, processing billions of transactions daily and delivering reporting data globally. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining high-performance, scalable solutions for large datasets, optimizing existing software, and participating in all development activities. The engineer will collaborate with product management to define requirements and own feature development for complex projects, focusing on reliability and performance, especially with DevOps/SRE experience.

Position Summary:

The Adobe Analytics platform processes 20+ billion transactions every day and delivers reporting data to customers throughout the world. We are looking for a passionate and skilled Software Engineer with proven expertise in software design, development, and system architecture. Ideal candidates will also bring experience as a Senior DevOps Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to help drive reliability and performance across our Reporting Services team based in Lehi, Utah. In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineers developing and testing the next generation of reliable, high-performance, scalable solutions. You will have the chance to create solutions for managing large volumes of data for enterprise clients globally.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable solutions for customers who handle large datasets.
• Optimize and test existing software to enhance and improve performance, functionality, and usability.
• Participate in all aspects of software development activities, including design, coding, code review, unit-testing, bug fixing, and operations.
• Collaborate with product management and engineering to help define and implement requirements for backend services, components, and interfaces.
• Own development for features of large highly complex projects and apply knowledge to implement architectural and feature specs to drive customer success through delivery of high-quality code.
• Write complete functional specification and documentation.
• Estimate schedules, breaking tasks down to reasonable 1-3 day tasks.
• Write, test and document well-structured code against designs which scale and perform well for customers worldwide.
• Develop code, procedures, and documentation that advances the automation of data center (On-Prem and Cloud based) specific tasks in support of the Adobe Analytics product.
• Identify outside technologies and know when to use them. Make recommendations for system and process improvement. Invest time and energy to improve skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience, along with 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Demonstrated mastery in software development and debugging.
• Proficiency in Java, C++, Scala, or equivalent.
• Experience with Linux, Git, Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in data analysis, streaming technologies, SaaS environments, web analytics
• Ability to quickly learn and apply complex subjects and technologies.
• Knowledge in both building but also operating a service: CI/CD deployments, monitoring and alerting (Grafana, Prometheus), Kubernetes-based deployments, infrastructure as code, and provisioning tools (Terraform, Saltstack)
• Design and implementation of RESTful service deployed into Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and or Azure environments
• Be self-motivated and with a proactive ability to seek unknowns, build strong relationships and with a strong bias to action!
