Rippling is seeking a Software Engineer 2 for the Variable Compensation team to design, build, and scale a first-of-its-kind compensation product. This role involves working on complex data pipelines, large-scale distributed systems, and cutting-edge performance analytics. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing scalable user interfaces, driving technical excellence, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing technical leadership and mentorship to engineers.
Good To Have:
  • Experience designing and building SaaS products
  • Experience in backend technologies like python, mongo, etc.
Must Have:
  • Design and implement scalable, high-performant, intuitive user interfaces to support processing of large-scale sophisticated compensation data and performance metrics.
  • Make key technical decisions that impact the long-term success of the VC platform.
  • Write clean, maintainable code, along with setting best practices for quality, security, and system reliability.
  • Work with Product, Design, and other Engineering teams to translate ambiguous specs into clear execution plans and drive them through completion.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, fostering a high-performance team culture.
  • 2+ years of experience in front-end engineering roles.
  • Strong understanding of JS fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript (especially ES6+), React, HTML, and CSS, and unit and integration testing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of front-end performance optimization techniques.
  • Experience in building user-centric applications and large-scale frontend infrastructures.
  • Familiarity with creating engaging and scalable interfaces within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

The Variable Compensation team is dedicated to developing a groundbreaking 0-to-1 product that enables companies to compensate their employees based on performance and target achievements. This consumer-facing product aims to revolutionize how businesses manage performance-based pay, providing a seamless and intuitive experience for both employers and employees.

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and highly experienced Software Engineer 2 to join our Variable Compensation team. As a foundational member of the team, you will be working on designing, building, and scaling a first-of-its-kind compensation product. You will work on complex data pipelines, large-scale distributed systems, and cutting-edge performance analytics. Your work will have a direct impact on shaping how businesses pay their employees based on performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build & Innovate : Design and implement scalable, high-performant, intuitive user interfaces to support processing of large-scale sophisticated compensation data and performance metrics.
  • Drive Technical Excellence: Make key technical decisions that impact the long-term success of the VC platform. Write clean, maintainable code, along with setting best practices for quality, security, and system reliability.
  • Lead & Collaborate: Work with Product, Design, and other Engineering teams to translate ambiguous specs into clear execution plans and drive them through completion.
  • Mentor and Influence: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, fostering a high-performance team culture.

What you will need

  • 2+ years of experience in front-end engineering roles.
  • Strong understanding of JS fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript (especially ES6+), React, HTML, and CSS, and unit and integration testing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of front-end performance optimization techniques.
  • Experience in building user-centric applications and large-scale frontend infrastructures.
  • Familiarity with creating engaging and scalable interfaces within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable in an environment that encourages autonomy, learning new technologies and innovation to devise creative frontend solutions to tackle real-world engineering challenges.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team
  • Bonus: Experience designing and building SaaS products
  • Bonus: Experience in backend technologies like python, mongo, etc.
