The Video Applications team develops high-profile media creation applications like iMovie, Final Cut Pro, and Motion. This role seeks an experienced software engineer to define and implement privacy-first instrumentation capabilities. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional partners to collect data, improving the creator experience, and preserving user privacy. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in Swift/Objective-C, C/C++, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design, with a focus on developing high-quality software products and solving complex technical challenges creatively.

The Video Applications team develops high-profile media creation applications used by millions of people. iMovie, Final Cut Camera, Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Compressor are groundbreaking media authoring tools that consumers and creative professionals rely on for everything from broadcast news and feature films to documentaries and home movies. Our user base is passionate and committed, and our products sit at the center of a rich partner ecosystem in a vibrant industry. We’re looking for an experienced software engineer to join our team focused on defining and implementing our privacy-first instrumentation capabilities for Video Applications. You will work with cross-functional partners to collect data for our media applications to improve the creator experience while preserving user privacy. You should have experience in user interface implementation, cross-platform applications, instrumentation frameworks and/or application architecture.

  • Strong experience in Swift and/or Objective-C, C/C++
  • Proven software engineering background including key concepts such as data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
  • Ability to develop and ship high-quality software products
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with others
  • Passionate about the power of data to drive product innovation and improvements
  • BS or MS in Computer Science preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • Familiarity with media content creation tools is an added plus

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
