Newrich is building a platform to inspire and guide people toward the Newrich Lifestyle, prioritizing work-life balance. We offer e-learning, turn-key solutions, and mentorship for digital entrepreneurs through a hybrid SaaS, educational platform, and social network. We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager with strong hands-on React and PHP experience to lead a small team. The role involves approximately 80% team management/project leadership and 20% hands-on coding, requiring confidence in both guiding others and contributing to development.
Must have:
  • Drive the technical roadmap for the team in close collaboration with the PM and the product roadmap
  • Manage and improve systems to maintain high service availability for our customers
  • Act as the glue for execution (organizing sprint planning, standups, retrospectives)
  • Mentor, support, and grow a team of ~5 engineers
  • Lead by example with high-quality contributions in React and PHP
  • Maintain a healthy team culture characterized by trust and psychological safety
  • Collaborate with Recruiting to grow the team
  • Coordinate resolution of production incidents
  • 3+ years of experience managing small teams of engineers
  • 5+ years of software development experience, including strong hands-on skills with React and PHP
  • Experience building SaaS products
  • Experience building or designing social networks, messaging applications, ERP systems or CRMs
  • Proven track record leading diverse and distributed teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced Agile environment with ambiguity
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership abilities
Good to have:
  • Experience with AWS (or a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure)
  • Familiarity with AWS and cloud infrastructure best practices

We’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager with strong hands-on experience in React and PHP to lead a small team of engineers. The role is approximately 80% team management/project leadership and 20% hands-on coding, so you’ll need to be confident both in guiding others and in rolling up your sleeves to contribute to development when needed.

Experience with AWS (or a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure) is highly desirable.

What you'll need

  • 3+ years of experience managing small teams of engineers.
  • 5+ years of software development experience, including strong hands-on skills with React and PHP.
  • Experience building SaaS products.
  • Familiarity with AWS and cloud infrastructure best practices (strong plus).
  • Experience building or designing any of the following systems: social networks, messaging applications, ERP systems or CRMs.
  • Proven track record leading diverse and distributed teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent (advanced degrees a plus).
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced Agile environment with ambiguity.
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership abilities.

We provide a competitive salary range for this role - which is 130,000 - 160,000 CAD - depending on level and experience. Please note this range is intended as a guide, not a guarantee. Final compensation will be based on individual qualifications, relevant experience, and the scope of the role.
