Job Description

As a Solutions Architect at Databricks, you will leverage your technical expertise to help customers solve complex data challenges using the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform. You will build strong client relationships, provide technical and business value, and act as an expert in big data analytics. This role involves creating customized solutions, authoring reference architectures, and leading community workshops to drive successful adoption and innovation. Join a collaborative, customer-focused team dedicated to transforming how people work with data.

  • Operate as an expert in big data analytics.
  • Develop into a trusted advisor on architecture, design, and implementation.
  • Author reference architectures, how-tos, and demo applications.
  • Lead workshops, seminars, and meet-ups to build the Databricks community.
  • Grow knowledge and expertise to a technical/industry specialist level.
  • Experience in technical consultancy and/or presales (Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Data Science/AI/ML).
  • Engage customers in technical sales, challenge questions, guide outcomes, communicate value.
  • Develop customer relationships and build internal partnerships.
  • Prior experience coding in Python or SQL, willingness to learn Spark.
  • Proficient with Big Data Analytics technologies and public cloud platforms.
  • Experienced in use case discovery, scoping, and delivering complex solution architecture designs.
  • Ability to commute to Amsterdam offices at least once a week.
  • Ability to travel 20-30% across Netherlands, Belgium, and occasionally other EU countries.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Field Engineering.

The impact you will have:

  • Make a societal impact working with the Public Sector vertical, where Databricks is used across central government, provinces, municipalities, and vital infra (think Public Transport, Airports/Seaports).
  • Form successful relationships with clients throughout your assigned territory, providing technical and business value to Databricks customers in collaboration with Account Executives.
  • Operate as an expert in big data analytics to excite customers about Databricks. You will develop into a ‘champion’ and trusted advisor on multiple issues of architecture, design, and implementation to lead to the successful adoption of the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform.
  • Author reference architectures, how-tos, and demo applications to scale best practices in your field and support customers. Lead workshops, seminars, and meet-ups to help build the Databricks community in your region and scale best practices in your field.
  • Grow your knowledge and expertise to the level of a technical and/or industry specialist.

What we look for:

  • Experience, technical consultancy and/or presales with a background in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing or Data Science / AI / Machine Learning.
  • Engage customers in technical sales, challenge their questions, guide clear outcomes, and communicate technical and value propositions.
  • Develop customer relationships and build internal partnerships with account executives and teams.
  • Prior experience with coding in a core programming language (i.e., Python, SQL) and willingness to learn a base level of Spark.
  • Proficient with Big Data Analytics technologies, including hands-on expertise with complex proofs-of-concept and public cloud platform(s).
  • Experienced in use case discovery, scoping, and delivering complex solution architecture designs to multiple audiences, requiring an ability to context switch in levels of technical depth.
  • Nice to have: Databricks Certification
  • The candidate must be able to commute to Amsterdam offices at least once a week and travel approximately 20-30% of the time across The Netherlands, Belgium, and occasionally other EU countries for customer visits.
