Job Summary

Join the Conseil scolaire francophone de la Colombie-Britannique (CSF) as a Specialized Pedagogical Assistant. This role involves contributing to the development and implementation of personalized learning plans for students with diverse needs from kindergarten to grade 12. You will support students' social and academic inclusion, create adapted learning materials, and assist in developing their autonomy. The CSF is committed to student success in an inclusive and safe environment, valuing Indigenous learning principles and universal learning.

Must Have

  • Participate in the development and implementation of personalized learning plans (PAP) for diverse needs students from kindergarten to grade 12.
  • Support students with diverse needs using various intervention strategies and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Create and prepare learning materials adapted to student needs (visual, tactile support, etc.).
  • Assist and accompany students to help them develop skills and competencies towards autonomy.
  • Observe and document student behaviors and interactions, sharing data with the intervention team.
  • Report, document, and share any incidents, concerns, and worries related to student safety and well-being.
  • Hold a certificate or diploma in specialized pedagogical assistance from British Columbia or a related field or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum one year of prior experience in a related field.
  • Ability to follow British Columbia and CSF study programs and educational approaches to support inclusive classrooms.
  • Ability to work with students with complex needs from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
  • Proficiency in French, both oral and written.

Good to Have

  • Ability to develop computer skills.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • First aid training.

Job Description

  • Distribution: 10 months of the school calendar (September 1 to June 30)
  • Hourly Rate: $34.05/hour, according to the collective agreement scale
  • Contract Start Date: As soon as possible
  • Contract End Date: Indeterminate return

  • Participate in the development and implementation of personalized learning plans (PAP) for diverse needs students from kindergarten to grade 12;
  • Support students with diverse needs using a variety of intervention strategies and conflict resolution techniques, with the aim of facilitating their social and academic inclusion;
  • Create and prepare learning materials adapted to the needs of the student (visual support; tactile support; etc.) in connection with the recommendations of the PAP or plans implemented by the intervention team;
  • Assist and accompany students to help them develop their abilities and competencies towards their autonomy (e.g., personal needs and life skills; etc.);
  • Observe and document student behaviors and interactions and share this data with the intervention team in order to better meet their needs;
  • Report, document, and share with responsible persons any incident, concern, and worry related to the safety and well-being (physical and socio-emotional) of students, including those of a confidential nature.

Note:

This position consists of 15 hours of pedagogical assistance in M-1 class, 15 hours of specialized pedagogical assistance, and 1 hour of preparation time (LIF) for a total of 31 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • Hold a certificate or diploma in specialized pedagogical assistance from British Columbia or in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • A minimum of one (1) year of prior experience in a related field;
  • Be able to follow the study program and educational approaches of British Columbia and the CSF to support the inclusion of all students in the classroom;
  • Ability to develop computer skills;
  • Ability to work with students with complex needs from Kindergarten to Grade 12;
  • Proficiency in French, both oral and written, proficiency in English, an asset;
  • First aid training, an asset.
