Job Description

Intel is seeking a Sr. Power Management Validation Engineer to define, develop, and perform SoC level power, thermal, and performance validation and optimization across Intel products. The role involves driving usage optimization, developing key performance indicators, executing benchmarks, and collaborating with various teams to ensure product targets are met. Candidates should possess strong debugging and validation skills in SoC power management and CPU architecture, along with proficiency in C++ and Python.
Must have:
  • Define, develop, and perform SoC level power, thermal, and performance validation and optimization.
  • Understand business implications of ensuring power and performance KPIs within target and limitations.
  • Drive SoC level usage optimization under specific scenarios and develop key performance indicators.
  • Ratify optimizations from hardware/software architecture and propose solutions to software PTP teams.
  • Develop power, thermal, and performance validation methodologies and execute validation plans.
  • Collaborate with other engineers for design optimization, troubleshooting, and failure analysis.
  • Perform SoC level debug to identify root causes and resolve functional and triage failures.
  • Develop validation infrastructure and test environment.
  • Configure and set up data logger for thermal data collection and analysis.
  • Publish SoC level power, thermal, and performance validation reports.
  • Work with architecture, design, verification, firmware, software, and platform teams.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of experience OR Master's degree with 6+ years of experience.
  • Experience in SoC power management and CPU architecture.
  • Experience in hardware and firmware debugging and validation.
  • Experience in hardware design and power, thermal, and performance characterization.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++ and Python, and experience with automation scripts.
Good to have:
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-organizational teams.
  • Leadership skills to mentor and guide junior engineers.
  • Ability to work in additional locations: US, Oregon, Hillsboro; US, California, Santa Clara; US, Arizona, Phoenix.

Key Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Defines, develops, and performs SoC level power, thermal, and performance validation and optimization plan across Intel products.
  • Understands the business implications of ensuring power and performance KPIs within target and power and thermal limitations.
  • Drives SoC level usage optimization under specific scenarios, develops key performance indicators and landing zones, power and thermal benchmarks, and drives execution, reporting, and documentation of results.
  • Ratifies optimizations from hardware/software architecture and proposes solutions to software PTP teams.
  • Develops power, thermal, and performance validation methodologies, executes validation plans, and collaborates with other engineers for design optimization, troubleshooting, and failure analysis.
  • Performs SoC level debug to identify root causes and resolves all functional and triage failures for power, thermal, and performance issues.
  • Develops validation infrastructure (e.g., performance monitors, behavioral checkers, state space coverage) and test environment used in validation testing.
  • Configures and sets up data logger for thermal data collection and analysis. Publishes SoC level power, thermal, and performance validation reports summarizing all validation and optimization activities performed, reviews results, and communicates to relevant teams.
  • Works with architecture, design, verification, firmware, software, and platform teams to maintain and improve debug, validation test strategy, methodologies, and processes to ensure power, thermal, and performance meet and exceed product completive targets and specifications.

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of experience or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 6+ years of experience

Related work experience should be of the following:

  • SoC power management and CPU architecture.
  • Hardware and firmware debugging and validation.
  • Hardware design and power, thermal, and performance characterization.
  • Programming languages such as C++ and Python, and experience with automation scripts.
