Job Summary
PHINIA is seeking an enthusiastic Sr. QAE-Gage & Lab to join its growing Quality team in Shanghai. This role supports quality functions and reports to the Quality Manager. The position involves developing gaging plans, evaluating suppliers, specifying and approving new production gages and metrology equipment, and supporting automatic gaging and SPC data collection. The successful candidate will also maintain production gages, conduct cost studies, support daily production issues, and train operators on gage usage and maintenance. This role is crucial for enhancing efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
Must Have
- Develop gaging plans for products and product lines.
- Evaluate, select, and develop capable suppliers for gage design and build.
- Specify, quote, purchase, and approve new production gages per Company requirements.
- Specify, quote, purchase, and approve new metrology equipment for Gage Lab.
- Support development of automatic gaging for in-process dimensioning control.
- Develop automatic SPC data collection systems for key dimensions.
- Maintain production gages to match current product designs.
- Complete cost studies for determining gage investment.
- Support daily production and quality requests involving gages and gaging issues.
- Train production operators and others in proper use and maintenance of gages and inspection equipment.
- College degree on Mechanical major or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years experience as Metrology Lab Management, gage building and Management.
- Experience in gage design, building, inspection and calibration.
- Able to communicate in written English.
- Good command of MS. Office.
- Able to skillfully read blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
- Able to understand and apply Quality standards and tools (QS9000, SPC).
- Able to generally understand manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Able to use basic metrology equipment for Gage Lab (CMMs, Optical Comparators).
- Able to develop standard and specialized gages.

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to join our growing PHINIA Quality team as a Sr. QAE-Gage & Lab! This position will support us in quality function and reports to Quality Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop gaging plans for products and product lines based on the specified manufacturing plan
- Evaluate, select, and develop capable suppliers for gage design and build
- Specify, quote, purchase, and approve new production gages per Company requirements
- Specify, quote, purchase, and approve new metrology equipment for Gage Lab per Company requirements
- Support development of automatic gaging purchased with production equipment for in-process dimensioning control
- Develop automatic SPC data collection systems for key dimensions as required
- Maintain production gages to match current product designs; evaluating gages as needed for engineering changes
- Complete any cost studies for determining gage investment for new or revised products and product lines
- Support daily production and quality requests involving gages and gaging issues
- Train production operators and any others in the proper use and maintenance of gages and inspection equipment
- Accomplish tasks assigned by supervisor or manager
- Make safety and environment the most important criteria in the working area and for the individual
What we’re looking for
- College degree on Mechanical major or equivalent experience
- 2 years experience and above as Metrology Lab Management, gage building and Management. Experience in gage design, building, inspection and calibration.
- Able to communicate in written English
- Good command of MS. Office
- Able to skillfully read blueprints, including a good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
- Able to understand and apply Quality standards and tools; including QS9000, SPC, etc
- Able to generally understand manufacturing equipment and processes
- Able to use basic metrology equipment for Gage Lab; including Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMMs), Optical Comparators, etc
- Able to develop standard and specialized gages used in manufacturing production and quality verification
- Enthusiastic & eager to learn; A team player, High degree of personal integrity and honesty. Good communication skill.
