This Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role at Sabre involves combining software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems for Hospitality Solutions. The SRE ensures reliability, uptime, and continuous improvement of critical systems, while also monitoring capacity and performance. The position focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure, and automating tasks. It offers the opportunity to lead and manage complex challenges of scale, leveraging expertise in coding, scripting, algorithms, troubleshooting, system design, and leadership skills within a diverse and collaborative environment.
Must have:
  • Provide application support utilizing monitoring tools and diagnostic methods.
  • Engage in day-to-day operational tasks for monitoring and automation.
  • Support a 24x7 global IT Operations environment.
  • Responsible for planning, implementation, deployment, and measurement of Hospitality Solutions operational assets.
  • Provide specialized technical and product support for Hospitality Solutions hosted solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex software solutions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Technology, and other enterprise teams in an agile environment.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for preventive actions using ITIL and Change Management procedures.
  • Contribute to on-prem to GCP cloud migrations.
  • Participate in incident calls and work closely with incident and problem management teams.
  • Responsible for supporting Hospitality Solutions application portfolios hosted in both On-prem & cloud platforms (AWS/GCP).
  • Possess 5-9 years of experience in IT Operations/DevOps/Application support & SRE.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in Windows, UNIX/Linux platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle, SQL; able to troubleshoot issues.
  • Hands-on expertise in AWS, GCP platforms, including Automations, deployments, administration & Operations.
  • Knowledge and implementation experience of ITIL process, procedures and ITSM.
  • Strong Automation expertise in scripting languages such as PERL/Shell scripting/Python.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of development skills in .NET or Java.
  • Experience supporting multi-layer applications including Frontend and Backend services.
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP and HTTP protocols, Networking, DNS/Firewalls, F5 Load balancing.
  • Expertise in monitoring tools such as Grafana, AppDynamics and SPLUNK.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science is required.

Senior Site Reliability Engineering - SRE

Job Description

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE ensures that Hospitality Solutions services—both our internally critical and our externally-visible systems—have reliability, uptime appropriate to users' needs and a fast rate of improvement. Additionally, SRE’s will keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems’ capacity and performance. Much of our software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and eliminating work through automation.

On the SRE team, you’ll have the opportunity to lead & manage complex challenges of scale, while using your expertise in coding/scripting, algorithms, troubleshooting, complexity analysis, small/large scale system design and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • An individual with deep passion for innovation, performance to work as an SRE.
  • Provides application support by utilizing monitoring tools and diagnostic methods.
  • Engage in day-to-day operational tasks as needed for management of monitoring and automation work to reduce toil.
  • Supports and be part of a 24x7 global IT Operations environment leveraging distributed global team members.
  • Will be responsible for the planning, implementation, deployment, and measurement of Hospitality Solutions operational assets.
  • Must work under minimum supervision with few direct instructions, a strong attitude towards teamwork, knowledge sharing and documentation.
  • Will be responsible in providing specialized technical and product support for Hospitality Solutions hosted solutions, this includes troubleshooting and debugging complex software solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering, Technology, and other relevant enterprise teams in an agile environment.
  • Hands-on expertise & understanding in ITIL, Change Management (i.e., ServiceNow) procedures to be able to participate in root cause analysis for preventive actions.
  • Hands-on expertise in Cloud computing, especially AWS/GCP, to contribute in on-prem to GCP cloud migrations.
  • Should be able to be part in the incident calls and closely work with the incident management teams and problem management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to stakeholders and higher management in terms of project status, incidents, problems and root causes.
  • Responsible in supporting Hospitality Solutions application portfolios hosted in both On-prem & cloud platforms (AWS/GCP).

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 5-9 years of experience in IT Operations/DevOps/Application support & SRE team
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in Windows, UNIX/Linux platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle, SQL; able to troubleshoot issues.
  • Must have hands-on expertise in AWS, GCP platforms, including Automations, deployments, administration & Operations, including GCP, Terraforms, core cloud concepts & services.
  • Must have knowledge and implementation experience of ITIL process, procedures and ITSM, ITIL certified an added advantage.
  • Must have strong Automation expertise and knowledge in any of the scripting languages, such as PERL/Shell scripting/Python. PowerShell is an added advantage.
  • Must have minimum 2-4yrs of development skills in at least .NET or Java. Node, PHP & Ruby are a plus.
  • Experience in handling multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, organizational skills.
  • Experience supporting multi-layer applications including Frontend services (API and GUI based) and Backend services.
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP and HTTP protocols and Networking, DNS/Firewalls, F5 Load balancing.
  • Knowledge in any DevOps tools such as Jenkins/Ansible and knowledge in any orchestration tools/languages like Groovy, Packer an added advantage.
  • Expertise in monitoring tools such as Grafana, AppDynamics and SPLUNK.
  • Good understanding and experience in Application support.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science is required and Master’s Degree in Computer Science is preferred.
  • Overall, 5-9 years of professional experience in IT Operations/DevOps and SRE.
