Job Description

As a Sr. Staff Data Engineer, you will be a key global architect focused on innovation in SaaS platform engineering. You will be responsible for delivering solid quality in design and implementation, shaping the team's approach to building and improving delivery effectiveness. Your core responsibilities include experience with building productionized data ingestion and processing data pipelines in Snowflake, understanding Snowflake architecture, data warehousing concepts, and Snowflake features and integration. You will also provide standardized enterprise solutions for cloud infrastructure and application deployment, applying appropriate software engineering patterns. The role involves leading complex software product delivery in an Agile environment and influencing fellow engineers.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of experience in Snowflake data engineering and python.
  • Overall minimum 10+ years of experience in IT Industry.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake utilities (SnowSQL, Bulk copy, Snowpipe, Tasks, Streams, Time travel, Cloning, Optimizer, Metadata Manager, data sharing, stored procedures and UDFs, Snowsight, streamlit).
  • Experience building robust, highly available, and scalable data lakes.
  • Strong Experience working with Snowflake is a must and no-SQL datastores like Elastic, Postgres.
  • Expert in leveraging continuous integration and robust build/test automation.
  • Experience in one of the public cloud technology stack in Azure , AWS, GCP.
  • Strong analytical skills to manage complex problems.
  • Experience in leading complex software product delivery in an Agile environment
Good to have:
  • Snowflake certification is preferred
  • Experience in a leadership position responsible for building, motivating and leading high performing development teams
  • Experience with enterprise multi-tenant software

Overview: Blue Yonder's Platform Data Cloud team’s mission is to reimagine the supply chain technology and serve as the backbone of Blue Yonder’s SaaS products. Role serves as one of the key global architect to focus on innovation in SaaS platform engineering, spanning infrastructure architecture through enterprise, application platform features, to accelerate our cloud data team’s delivery and solution quality.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Consistently delivers solid quality in both design and implementation and helps the team shape what is built how, in particular:

Core responsibilities includes working experience with building productionized data ingestion and processing data pipelines in Snowflake
·    Strong understanding on Snowflake Architecture
·    Fully well-versed with data warehousing concepts.
·    Expertise and excellent understanding of Snowflake features and integration of Snowflake with other data processing.

Core responsibilities includes focusing on innovation and improving delivery effectiveness by driving product development features across the organization in

software development, deployment, and infrastructure consistency. 

Provide standardized enterprise solutions for cloud infrastructure and application deployment across multiple products.  

Apply the appropriate software engineering patterns utilizing a meta-driven systems approach to build robust and scalable systems

Expert in Object Oriented and Functional programming and the ability to apply your skills in developing Blue Yonder products.

Influence fellow engineers by proposing software designs, providing feedback on software designs and/or implementation.

Demonstrated experience in large-scale Kubernetes systems, including how to sufficiently scale very large services in Kubernetes

Modular and Service based Architectural Design

The team currently comprises of global associates across US, Canada, India, and Germany and is expected to grow. The incumbent will need to be a quick learner.

Our Current Technical Environment:

Software/Tools: Java, Python, Groovy, GitHub, Node.js, React.js, Jenkins, GitHub, Codacy, Checkmarx, GitHub Advance Security, Black Duck Hub, BlazeMeter, Artifactory, Ansible, Docker, etc.

Application Architecture: Scalable, Resilient, event driven, secure multi-tenant Microservices architecture

Cloud Architecture: MS Azure (ARM templates, AKS, Virtue Networks, Event Hub, Azure AD)

Frameworks/Others: Kubernetes, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Spark, NOSQL, RDBMS, Spring Boot, Snowflake

What we are looking for:

Masters/Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field REQUIRED.

You have 5+ years of experience in Snowflake data engineering and python( preferred).

Overall min 10+ years of experience in IT Industry . This is a Senior role.

Hands-on experience with Snowflake utilities such as SnowSQL, Bulk copy, Snowpipe, Tasks, Streams, Time travel, Cloning, Optimizer, Metadata Manager,

data sharing, stored procedures and UDFs, Snowsight, streamlit ( REQUIRED)

Experience building robust, highly available, and scalable data lakes.

Able to delivery POC’s within weeks for new Snowflake features and advise on usage with pros/cons of each.

Strong Experience working with Snowflake is a must and no-SQL datastores like Elastic, Postgres.

Expert in leveraging continuous integration and robust build/test automation, with a preference for cross platform stacks and containerization (Jira, Git, Jenkins).

Experience in one of the public cloud technology stack in Azure , AWS, GCP

Strong analytical skills to be able to manage complex problems using a number of techniques.

Experience in leading complex software product delivery in an Agile environment.

Snowflake certification is preferred

Experience in a leadership position responsible for building, motivating and leading high performing development teams

The salary range for this position is $122,219- $189,615

The salary range information provided, reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data.  Minimums and maximums may vary based on location.  Individual salary will be commensurate with skills, experience, certifications or licenses and other relevant factors.  In addition, this role will be eligible to participate in either the annual performance bonus or commission program, determined by the nature of the position.
