Job Description

Google is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join their AI Innovation and Research team in London, UK. You will be responsible for writing product or system development code, leading design reviews, partnering with researchers across Alphabet to build edge focused emerging AI capabilities and technologies, partnering with multiple product teams to develop novel user experiences, and performing end-to-end software development by designing, developing, and launching new product features.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
8 years of experience in software development
5 years of experience testing and launching software products
3 years of experience with software design and architecture
3 years of experience with machine learning algorithms and tools
Experience with cross-functional collaboration

Good to have:

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction
5 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects
Experience with Machine Learning infrastructure
Experience with video diffusion models or augmented reality

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
5 years of experience testing and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
3 years of experience with machine learning algorithms and tools (e.g. TensorFlow), artificial intelligence, deep learning, or natural language processing.
Experience with cross-functional collaboration.
Experience with applied research on Machine Learning, Computer Vision, 3D.

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
5 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
Experience with Machine Learning infrastructure.
Experience with video diffusion models or augmented reality.

Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.
Lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
Partner closely with Researchers across Alphabet to build edge focused emerging AI capabilities and technologies.
Partner closely with multiple Product teams to develop novel user experiences.
Perform end-to-end software development by designing, developing, and launching new product features.
