Job Description

SailPoint is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to help build a new cloud-based SaaS identity analytics product. This role involves delivering efficient, maintainable, robust Java-based microservices, producing designs and estimates, and implementing features based on product requirements. The engineer will collaborate on designs, code reviews, and testing, and produce unit and end-to-end tests to improve code quality. This is a unique opportunity to build something from scratch within an agile team, backed by an organization with a satisfied customer base.

  • SaaS production support experience running on AWS.
  • Experience using cloud-native technologies from AWS.
  • Experience developing microservices in multi-tenant SaaS application.
  • Experience in designing, implementing RESTful APIs for an API-first application architecture.
  • Experience using SQL/NoSQL, EKS, Kafka, Redis.
  • Experience using monitoring, alerting, visualization tools like Prometheus, Grafana.
  • Experience working with remote teams (US time zones).
  • Great communication skills.

SailPoint is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to help build a new cloud-based SaaS identity analytics product. We are looking for well-rounded backend or full stack engineers who are passionate about building and delivering reliable, scalable microservices and infrastructure for SaaS products.

As one of the first members on the team, you will be integral in building this product and will be part of an agile team that is in startup mode. This is a unique opportunity to build something from scratch but have the backing of an organization that has the muscle to take it to market quickly, with a very satisfied customer base.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver efficient, maintainable, robust Java based microservices.
  • Produce designs and rough estimates, and implement features based on product requirements.
  • Collaborate with peers on designs, code reviews, and testing.
  • Produce unit and end-to-end tests to improve code quality and maximize code coverage for new and existing features.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience with a demonstrated record of increasing responsibilities.
  • Experience in developing server-side, object-oriented programming in Java, Spring Boot, and associated frameworks.
  • SaaS production support experience running on AWS
  • Experience using cloud-native technologies from AWS.
  • Experience developing microservices in multi-tenant SaaS application.
  • Experience in designing, implementing RESTful APIs for an API-first application architecture.
  • Experience using SQL/NoSQL, EKS, Kafka, Redis
  • Experience using monitoring, alerting, visualization tools like Prometheus, Grafana

What success looks like in the role

Within the first 30 days you will:

  • Onboard into your new role, get familiar with our product offering and technology, proactively meet peers and stakeholders, set up your development environment.
  • Seek to deeply understand business problems or common engineering challenges and develop feature and unit test it.

By 90 days:

  • Proactively implement different enhancements, defect fixes by interacting independently with different (sometimes many) stakeholders, architects and members of your team.
  • Take a committed approach to contributing to different projects development alongside less experienced engineers on your team—there’s no room for ivory towers here.
  • Is able to provide 12x7 on-call support during their day.

By 6 months:

  • Collaborates with Product Management and Engineering Manager to estimate and develop small to medium complexity features more independently.
  • Lead projects with small group of 3-4 members. Participate in resource planning, backlog refinement activity.
  • Occasionally serve as an analysis expert during escalations of systems issues that have evaded the ability of less experienced engineers to solve in a timely manner.
  • Share support of critical team systems by participating in calls with customers, learning the characteristics of currently running systems, and participating in improvements.
