Job Description

A media and community platform enables over 300,000 creators to offer exclusive content and build businesses through paid and free memberships, community chats, live video, and direct sales. The platform has generated over $10 billion for creators and currently supports over 25 million paid memberships. The Staff Software Engineer, Backend Platform will design and implement scalable, high-performance backend systems for this creator membership platform, collaborating with product managers and engineers to support growth and enhance developer experience.

  • 6+ years of backend software engineering experience, including production systems at scale.
  • Strong experience with Python or a similar language.
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns and principles.
  • Experience with relational databases (such as PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (such as Redis).
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) practices.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or the equivalent.

We're continuing to invest heavily in building the best creator platform with the best team in the creator economy and are looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Backend Platform to support our mission.

This role is based in New York or San Francisco and open to those who are able to be in-office 2 days per week on a hybrid work model.

About the Role

As a Senior Backend Platform Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, high-performance backend systems that power our creator membership platform. You will collaborate with other engineers and product managers to build and maintain reliable and efficient systems that support growth.

About You

  • 6+ years of backend software engineering experience, including production systems at scale.
  • Strong experience with Python or a similar language.
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns and principles
  • Experience with relational databases (such as PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (such as Redis)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) practices
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality work on time
  • Prior work in platform engineering or developer infrastructure teams is a strong plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or the equivalent

We operate under a hybrid work model, where employees based in office locations are expected to come into the office two days per week, excluding sick time and paid leave. The posted salary range is dependent on the location and the level. This range may encompass multiple levels within the role’s job family. The final offer will be based on candidate’s experience, skills, competencies, and geographic location, aligning with the appropriate job level within our leveling framework. For remote employees located outside CA and NY, salary may vary based on location and local market conditions.
