Summer Associate Internship Program

Position Summary

Putnam is looking for top performers to join our firm’s Summer Internship Program. Each summer, Putnam hires rising seniors from top universities to spend 10 weeks assisting with casework while being exposed to a genuine consulting experience. Joining Putnam as a Summer Associate Consultant is an excellent opportunity to gain insight into the strategic issues that face today’s pharmaceutical companies, as well as specific changes affecting the healthcare marketplace. Summer Associates are managed and mentored by a Senior Associate working on multiple cases – learning how to:

  • Prepare and conduct primary research with physicians, patients, and managed care
  • Gather secondary research from healthcare literature and internal sources
  • Analyze client and market data
  • Work with project team to develop client presentations – slide craft, strategic story lining, and more.

The Summer Internship Program takes place in our Boston office – although potential full-time return offers are available to any of our US office (Boston, NYC, San Francisco).

Desired Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate for the intern program is:

  • Highly intelligent and self-motivated individuals with a strong work ethic, robust attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence and leadership during school.
  • Proven analytic abilities, a rigorous quantitative background, and strong problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Strong interest in life sciences
  • We are a highly collaborative firm and require strong teamwork examples
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.3 is required with 3.5 or better preferred.

Please note that applications from graduate students, MBA students, current seniors or students who have already graduated will not be considered for this position. This program is for current juniors – graduating in 2027.
