Job Overview
Qualcomm's IT organization is looking for an experienced leader with strong functional, technical, business and people skills to lead SW Engineering IT function working from our Hyderabad, India office.
This position will report to the India IT GCC Leader (with a matrix link to the Global Engineering IT Leader) and it has the following key expectations:
As part of the Global Engineering IT Leadership Team, the scope of the role is to partner with local and global Software Engineering Leadership and drive the IT strategy in alignment with the Global product & business roadmaps.
The role will manage IT teams focused on:
- Run Global SW Engineering Operations providing support of Build, Release, Test, Scan, Source Code Management, Distribution Systems etc.
- Software Engineering CI/CD, Cloud/Hybrid Cloud and DevOps Integration with Engineering IT toolset
- Development & Support of ALM and Custom Engineering Tools/Applications & Solutions using full-stack development
- Manage Installations, Operations & Support of Engineering Tools & platforms such as Electric Commander, Jenkins, Git/Gerrit, Static Analysis, Chef and Perforce, Atlassian suite of products, etc.
- Support SW Engineering labs in Hyderabad, Chennai & Bangalore
- Evangelize the AI tools adoption within the Engineering Development teams
This role will also serve as a technical IT resource at various levels of the SW Engineering IT value proposition, depending on the requirements of the Engineering Partners and Emerging business units.
This position exists to ensure that the IT needs of the business unit are being met in an efficient manner, allowing the Engineering community to focus more on their overall business strategy and less on the IT tools, applications & infrastructure that is an integral part of their operations.
The role supports the engineering community from a business operations perspective to ensure the engineering schedules and commitments are not hindered by a lack of any Qualcomm IT resources or expertise.
The role will have direct input and interaction with all IT Service Groups and knowledge of Qualcomm Engineering Compute IT- and Corporate IT- provided solutions, services, and technologies that may impact business unit project scope, direction, or schedule and provide a single geographical point of contact into Engineering Compute and IT.
Responsibilities:
- Qualcomm Engineering IT evangelist to Software Engineering as well as an advocate Engineering best interests to IT.
- Coordination, management, supervision of and working with Qualcomm IT resources required to support the various business units as well as geographic Site IT infrastructure and facilities (datacenters/labs).
- Responsible for overall SW engineering IT service delivery to India SW Engineering.
- Global Ownership of specific IT service areas and ensure efficient Global Delivery
- Senior technical resource/advisor to Engineers, Managers, Directors, and Vice Presidents for the various business units and Qualcomm Engineering IT as well as IT support staff on many IT-related technologies.
- Work closely with the Engineering Compute IT leadership to influence and ensure alignment with the global strategy.
- Solutions Architecture for applications and dashboards for HW & SW engineering data driven decisions
- Direct technical support for urgent/critical issues and for issues that fall outside the scope/expertise of normal IT support channels; root cause analysis of issues and subsequent inclusion within standard Qualcomm IT support channels.
- Planning, budgeting, and purchasing as it relates to SW Engineering Compute IT infrastructure hardware and software for the India SW Engineering community.
- Planned and unplanned event coordination and notification between Qualcomm IT and business units with respect to technical dependencies in the areas of application and product deployments, network and system downtimes and maintenance windows, and security issues.
- Define, Review, analyze and set the action plan to ensure SLA compliance across the service lines.
- Collaborate with Global Leadership and set up Governance mechanisms for a hybrid delivery model consisting of both In-house & Managed Services teams
Minimum Qualifications
- 20+ years of total IT experience that includes IT management with key focus on Software Engineering IT and all the associated tools, Infrastructure and applications, supervision of technical personnel, architecture, security/compliance, business-wide strategic planning and budgetary responsibility
- 10+ yrs experience leading highly technical IT teams supporting semiconductor design engineering teams for Software Engineering environments that includes Build Infrastructure, Release systems, Distribution systems, Software Configuration Management, Continuous Integration/Delivery
- 5+ yrs experience managing an IT organization of 75+ non-matrixed employees
- Solid knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle for semiconductor domain.
- Verifiable track record of effective leadership which includes strong strategic thinking and successful execution
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to explain technical concepts and analysis implications in a clear manner to a wide audience
- Ability to establish immediate credibility at all levels, inside and outside the organization.
- An established track record of achieving strong internal and business unit leadership satisfaction
- Experience leading as well as participating in global technical teams and projects
- Proven record of establishing collaborative partnerships with cross-organizational and business unit leadership
- Good exposure and prior experience in managing Software Engineering CI/CD and DevOps toolchain including Electric Commander, Jenkins, Git/Gerrit, Static Analysis, Chef and Perforce
- Proven track record of operational excellence and lean six-sigma practices
- Experience in design thinking implementation
EDUCATION
Preferred: Master's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Networks & Systems and/or Electrical Engineering and/or VLSI & Embedded Systems
Required: Bachelor's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Networks & Systems and/or Computer Science and/or VLSI & Embedded Systems
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.
OR
- 10+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
- 5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- 3+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., VP level and above).
