Job Description

As a Systems Administrator, you will work with private and public cloud technologies. You will learn business processes and be exposed to new technologies like VMWare vCentre, Azure, SQL, Citrix, Cisco hardware, and FortiNet firewalls. Responsibilities include deploying and configuring VMware Virtual Machines, managing Citrix DaaS, installing IT security tools, administering SQL Server and databases, managing service desk ticketing systems, reviewing SOPs, managing remote desktop gateways and VPNs, configuring monitoring tools, and handling Active Directory. Additional tasks involve SFTP server management, IP subnet management, certificate management, and Azure Kubernetes Cluster Services. This role involves patching and updates, server builds, software deployments, and may require standby and overtime duties. You'll also handle client engagements.

We understand the need to provide a flexible working environment partnered with team collaboration and socialisation. Therefore, we operate a hybrid working model with 3 days of working from home per week. This role is based in the Cape Town Office. 

Overview:

As a Systems Administrator with the MRI Software IT Services Team, you will work across Private and Public cloud technologies, learning business processes whilst being exposed to exciting new technologies such as VMWare vCentre, Azure, SQL, Citrix, Cisco hardware, FortiNet firewalls and many more networking and operational tools.

In this position, you will assist with a wide range of IT operational duties such as Microsoft Active Directory management, VMware Virtual Machine deployment and configuration, Anti-Virus and security vulnerability activities, deploying virtual web servers, creating and maintaining DNS records and be fully immersed in day-to-day operational IT Services activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Deployment and configuration of VMware Virtual Machines in vCentre and Azure

  • Citrix DaaS

  • Installation and management of IT security tools

  • SQL Server and DB administration

  • Managing and administering service desk ticketing system queues

  • Review of SOPs and documentation

  • Remote Desktop Gateway management, configuration and troubleshooting

  • IPSEC Tunnels and administration

  • Configuration of monitoring tools

  • Active Directory management and troubleshooting

  • VPN Configuration and troubleshooting

  • General vCentre management and troubleshooting

  • SFTP Server management

  • IP Subnet management

  • Certificate Management

  • SMTP Relay server troubleshooting and management

  • Azure Kubernetes Cluster Services

  • Patching and Updates

  • Server Builds and Software deployments

  • Standby and Overtime duties required

  • Client Engagements

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong interest in general IT (Networking, Operating Systems, Scripting)

  • Attention to detail, ability to follow SOPs and suggest improvements to documentation and processes

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise accordingly

  • Strong Interpersonal Skills with focus in Customer Centricity

  • Strong vendor management skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent

  • MTA/MCSE/Azure Certified

  • VMWare Certification

  • Security Certification

  • ITIL nice to have
