Summary

Elsewhere Entertainment is seeking a Technical Director, Multiplayer to contribute to the development of a new IP. In this role, you will direct and define the project's multiplayer technology, including game replication models and client/server architecture, to scale to large worlds and millions of players. You will lead and grow a team of engineers and work in close partnership with the CTO, as well as directors and leads across the project, to shape, organize, and prioritize the work needed to position Domino to be a next-generation multiplayer showcase. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with fellow Technical Directors to define and execute strategic goals and milestones, establish best practices and procedures, and evangelize the core development values of the engineering team. You will also work with production staff, directors, and others to establish engineering tasks and manage schedule requirements. This role requires 10+ years of professional experience authoring code for game software, 2+ years leading impactful engineering teams, and strong C++ skills. Experience shipping multiple AAA games, with at least one as a senior engineer or higher on a large team is also required.
Must have:
  • 10+ years of professional experience authoring code for game software

  • Strong, proven C++ skills and shipped at least one professional game primarily authored in C++
  • Hands-on development expertise in multiple areas: game engine systems, multithreading, streaming, graphics, physics, audio, and tools
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with artists, designers, and other engineers
  • Proven aptitude for technical design

As the Technical Director, Multiplayer you will help direct and define our project's multiplayer technology, including game replication models and client/server architecture, to scale to large worlds and millions of players. You will be leading and growing a team of engineers and work in close partnership with the CTO, as well as directors and leads across the project, to boldly shape, organize, and prioritize the work needed to position Domino to be a next-generation multiplayer showcase.  

 

As a leader on the project, you’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better—with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.



You’ll help us by… 

  • Work with fellow Technical Director(s) to define and execute strategic goals and milestones, establish best practices and procedures, and evangelize the core development values of the engineering team.  

  • Work with production staff, directors, and others to establish engineering tasks and manage schedule requirements.  

  • Review and approve completed engineering tasks in collaboration with the Technical Director, the production staff, and other leads.  

  • Collaborate with the Technical Director and ensure that technology interests and policies are properly represented and maintained through development and that future technology is being developed on schedule.  

  • Perform research to acquire new knowledge necessary to perform assigned tasks and maintain the technological evolution of the project. 

 

You’re awesome because you have… 

  • 10+ years of professional experience authoring code for game software.  

  • 2+ years leading impactful engineering teams.  

  • Design and/or help in the design of architecture or client/server

  • Experience shipping multiple AAA games, with at least one as a senior engineer or higher on a large team  

  • Strong, proven C++ skills and shipped at least one professional game primarily authored in C++.
