Job Description

Demonware, an Activision studio, is seeking Software Development Co-ops for an 8-month in-person program starting January 2025 in Dublin. Co-ops will contribute to online and data services for major game franchises like Call of Duty, working with technologies such as Python, Linux, MySQL, C++, and Erlang. Responsibilities include integrating multiplayer features, developing automation frameworks, supporting Kubernetes platforms, and crafting tools for distributed systems.
Must have:
  • Help game studios integrate multiplayer features.
  • Develop plugins and extend automation framework.
  • Develop core features for allocation and provisioning systems.
  • Evolve, scale, productize, and support Kubernetes platform.
  • Craft and implement tools and automations on distributed systems.
  • Deploy and maintain multiple Kubernetes clusters.
  • Perform root cause analyses and implement engineering solutions.
  • Participate in design and code reviews.
  • Craft tools to automate tasks.
  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary or graduate program.
  • Expected graduation between May 2026 – Dec 2027.
  • Available for 8-month in-person co-op starting January 2026.
  • In-depth knowledge of Python, C++, and/or Java.
  • Good grasp of fundamental algorithms and data structures.
  • Familiarity with Linux and source control (Git).
  • Excellent debugging and analytical skills.
  • Ability to identify complex problems and find simple solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.

Good to have:
  • Understanding of SQL-based databases (MySQL preferred).
  • Knowledge of networking technologies, e.g. TCP, UDP.
  • Experience with multi-platform software development.

We craft, develop, and host services for some of the world’s biggest video game franchises, including Call of Duty and Crash Bandicoot.

We solve tough problems on a day-to-day basis, and our Co-op students have a huge impact on what we do. We’ve had co-op students produce code and have it running in production within the first three days of joining.

The Role

  • Helping game studios integrate multiplayer features into the next ‘Call of Duty’
  • Developing plugins and extending our automation framework
  • Developing core features for our allocation and provisioning systems
  • Evolving, scaling, productizing and supporting our Kubernetes platform
  • Crafting and implementing tools and automations running on distributed systems
  • Deploying and maintaining multiple Kubernetes clusters across multiple DCs with hundreds of nodes
  • Performing root cause analyses and proposing and/or implementing appropriate engineering solutions to prevent or mitigate recurring incidents.
  • Participating in design and code reviews.
  • Crafting tools to automate all the things

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary education or graduate program
  • Expected graduation date between May 2026 – Dec 2027
  • Available to complete an 8-month co-op in-person starting January 2026
  • In depth knowledge of Python, C++, and/or Java
  • A good grasp of fundamental algorithms and data structures
  • Familiarity with Linux
  • Familiarity with source control (git preferred)
  • Excellent debugging and analytical skills
  • Can identify sophisticated problems and find/communicate simple solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Applicants must submit a resume and a link to their code samples

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of SQL−based databases (MySQL preferred)
  • Knowledge of networking technologies, e.g. TCP, UDP
  • Experience with multi−platform software development
