Job Description

Our Explosive Ordnance Systems team enables the Australian Defence Force through storage, distribution, maintenance and disposal of these systems, all across Australia. As a turnkey solution, we offer the opportunity to gain a holistic understanding of our business operations, creating huge opportunities for growth. We are seeking a detail-oriented Technical Officer to join our Mulwala team. In this key role, you will be responsible for performing more complex laboratory tests and analysis, checking analytical results, providing supervision and training.
Must Have:
  • Perform highly complex routine and investigative chemical and instrumental analysis
  • Supervise, train and guide team members
  • Allocate, coordinate and prioritise tasks in the team
  • Check the validity of results and release test results in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Assist with investigations into new or improved methods of analysis
  • Prepare draft submissions and recommendations for new laboratory equipment
  • Liaise with customers and laboratory service providers
  • Prepare and revise laboratory methods and procedures
  • Minimum year 12 in Chemistry or equivalent
  • Completion of Certificate 4 in “Laboratory Techniques” (TAFE) or equivalent
  • Advanced MS office and computer skills
  • Skilled in technical documentation, compliance reporting and record keeping
  • Ability to balance hands on work with technical oversight and reporting
  • Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a detail-oriented Technical Officer to join our team. In this key role, you will be responsible for performing more complex laboratory tests and analysis, checking analytical results, providing supervision and training.

  • Perform highly complex routine and investigative chemical and instrumental analysis

YOUR EXPERIENCE

On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours:

  • Minimum year 12 in Chemistry or equivalent
  • Completion of Certificate 4 in “Laboratory Techniques” (TAFE) or equivalent
  • Advanced MS office and computer skills
  • Skilled in technical documentation, compliance reporting and record keeping
  • Ability to balance hands on work with technical oversight and reporting
  • Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement

GOOD TO KNOW

Prior to being offered employment, you will need to complete pre-employment police and medical checks. A Defence security clearance NV1 is also required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance. Additional information with regards to clearances is available from the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website http://www.defence.gov.au/AGSVA/. In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role. The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act (DTCA) is applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
