The Opportunity    
    
IGN is looking for a passionate technical producer who is able to support productions of various complexity, studio shoots, streams, and more. This position reports to the Supervising Technical Produce and is based in our West Los Angeles studio with a minimum 3 days per week in office as well as travel for global events as needed.      
    
Key Responsibilities    
  
  • Work with producers in the setup of studios and control rooms for productions.    
    Assist producers and other team members with technical setups such as video capture. 
  • Control room operations such as technical directing.
  • Maintain IGN inventory, assist with the checking in and out of equipment.
  • Work with video project managers and coordinators in scoping projects.
  • Work with remote IGN talent in ensuring their at home on camera looks are maintained. 
  • Maintain infrastructure used for productions, post-production, and video acquisition (e.g. gameplay capture).
  • A go-to person when it comes to technical setup and oversight for: live streams, whether an IGN production or syndication of a non-IGN event, tech needs for studio shoots, workflow implementation, etc..

Job Qualifications
  

  • 2+ years of Technical Production experience
  • Ability to executive technical aspects of live and live-to-tape productions
  • Technical understanding of professional cameras such as Sony FX6/FX3, Blackmagic URSA, etc..
  • Technical knowledge of VMix, Tricaster, Blackmagic ATEM, or other video switching systems.
  • Willingness to see everything through with the same passion, whether troubleshooting a capture issue or organizing an offsite production.
  • Desire to seek out info on the latest video gear from cameras, control room equipment, remote capture gear, etc..
  • Control room experience in being a technical director, playback op, audio engineer, etc..
  • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative, team environment
  • Able to to quickly recognize and troubleshoot issues
  • A positive, problem-solving attitude. A desire to learn
  • Patience and a sense of humor
  • Passion for IGN and/or video games, comics, movies, TV, etc.

It would be extra awesome if you have…  

  • Experience with audio engineering setups and equipment including professional audio mixers, lavs, boom mics.
  • Experience using cloud based encoding and distribution services such as AWS Elemental MediaConnect, MediaLive, ReStream,io, Castr.io, etc.
  • Experience with configuring and operating professional/enterprise level appliance video encoders & decoders.
  • Have worked or assisted in a technical role in online video media, TV, and/or at a game-centric company
  • Been a part of the setup and execution of esports events.
  • Experience with NDI and Dante networking.
  • Have experience with productions at events such as Comic-con.
  • Created custom controls and automation using Bitfocus Companion.
  • Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop experience.

Salary Disclosure: Ziff Davis provides a range for the base pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay may include your specific job related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The base pay for this position ranges from $80,000 to $90,000, plus incentive compensation (for eligible roles only), 401K with company match, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, short and long-term disability, and a flexible time off policy.
