About the team and the role

An eBay company, TCGplayer is on a quest to be the most trusted trading card game (TCG) platform — connecting and empowering the hobby community. Founded by and for TCG enthusiasts, we operate a global marketplace, and create tools, technologies and solutions that help small businesses simply and profitably sell TCGs at scale.

The Inventory and Listings Core Technology (CLIP) Team is foundational to our marketplace infrastructure, providing backend services that power the seller, buyer, digitization, and fulfillment experiences. The team handles critical services including:

  • Seller inventory storage and management
  • Marketplace listing generation
  • Pricing data services (low, average, high, medium)
  • Market price valuation of sold items
  • Email service infrastructure for seller communication
  • IRIS: a router for vision-based technologies for card identification

As a TPM on the CLIP team, you will not only bring strong technical and product expertise but also act as the connective tissue between engineering, product, and consumer-facing teams. You will ensure that CLIP services are scalable, reliable, and strategically aligned with TCGplayer’s marketplace and growth objectives.

What you will accomplish

  • Drive successful execution of product development by fostering collaboration and coordination between the CLIP engineering team and downstream product/consumer teams, ensuring alignment with business goals and priorities.
  • Lead roadmap planning, backlog grooming, and requirement clarification across multiple participants.
  • Translate platform capabilities into consumable solutions for other teams, reducing bottlenecks in requirements gathering and dependency management.
  • Define and maintain the technical roadmap for inventory and listings services, adapting it to evolving marketplace needs.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance, documentation, and operational standards, reducing risk and improving scalability.
  • Deliver measurable outcomes including:
  • Shorter development cycles and improved team velocity
  • Higher quality results through clearer requirements
  • Improved partner satisfaction and platform adoption

What you will bring

  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a Technical Product Owner, Technical Product Manager, or Software Developer working on backend services, infrastructure, or marketplace platforms.
  • Competence in technical product management and development methodologies (Agile, customer- and design-centric practices), with a track record of leading complex dependencies and aligning technical roadmaps with business strategy.
  • Strong quantitative reasoning and ability to define success metrics, track velocity, and build portfolio-level indicators.
  • Experience with ecommerce marketplace or SMB SaaS product lines; supply chain, pricing analytics, or fulfillment tooling experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clarify complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, and a bias toward operational scalability and documentation.
  • Technical competence: understanding of backend service architecture, data platforms, and infrastructure considerations for scalable systems. Comfort collaborating with engineering at a deep technical level.
  • A steadfast focus on customers and internal consumers (e.g., Seller, Buyer, Fulfillment, Digitization teams), ensuring CLIP services unlock customer-facing value.
  • Undergraduate and/or graduate degrees in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$73,600 - $130,300

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
