Job Description

FOX Factory designs, engineers, manufactures, and markets performance-defining products and systems for various vehicles. The Technical Writer will create user-friendly, step-by-step documentation for vehicle build processes and consumer support manuals. This role involves leveraging existing formats, proposing improvements, co-leading vehicle walk-arounds and training for various departments, managing a repository of training materials, and supporting program launch initiatives.
Must have:
  • Work with Product Development Teams to understand production needs and define documentation requirements.
  • Develop and/or procure high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards.
  • Conduct employee training through in-person and virtual reviews of new launch programs.
  • Create and maintain a data repository of training materials and system documentation.
  • Create tutorials and reference guides to help end-users service and maintain their vehicles.
  • Contribute to the scheduling and coordination of training events.
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with Solidworks and/or Alias software
  • Comfortability speaking and answering questions in front of small to large audiences

Position Summary:

The Technical Writer will own the creation of user-friendly, step-by-step documentation related to vehicle build processes and consumer support manuals, leveraging existing formats and proposing improvements to further the efficiency and clarity of business practices. In addition, this individual will co-lead small to large group vehicle walk-arounds and training for various departments and employees within the organization, managing a repository of training materials, and generally supporting program launch initiatives.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with Product Development Teams (Advanced Development, Design & Engineering, Project Management, Production Integration, etc.) to understand the existing and upcoming production needs, capabilities, and corresponding business processes to define documentation requirements.
  • Develop and/or procure high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
  • Conduct employee training through both in-person and virtual reviews of new launch programs or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Create and maintain a data repository of training materials and system documentation.
  • Create tutorials and reference guides to help end-users service and maintain their vehicles to the terms of their service & warranty agreement.
  • Contribute to the scheduling and coordination of training events.

Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:

  • Excellent written, grammatical, & verbal communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to create deliverables with tight deadlines under pressure.
  • Team centric mindset with a willingness to be hands-on with prototype vehicle development and processes.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite, especially InDesign, Illustrator, & Photoshop required.
  • Familiarity with Solidworks and/or Alias software preferred.
  • Comfortability speaking and answering questions in front of small to large audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.

Position Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in English or Communication is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 2+ Years of Technical Writing or Training Experience

Manufacturing and industry experience preferred

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Shop & Office Environments

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and to validate and enter data on a computer.

Occasionally lift and or move heavy objects.

Some travel required.
