Job Description

The content developer is responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining high-quality, comprehensive documentation. This role involves collaborating with the project's information architect to understand and implement documentation requirements. The developer interprets technical data into clear, concise printed and online content for technical personnel and end-users with varying knowledge levels. They are expected to produce various documents including User Guides, Reference Guides, Quick Start Guides, Service Manuals, and Troubleshooting Guides.
Must have:
  • Create, edit, and maintain high-quality, comprehensive documentation.
  • Collaborate with information architects to understand and implement documentation requirements.
  • Interpret technical data into clear and concise printed and online content.
  • Produce user guides, reference guides, quick start guides, service manuals, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Knowledge of project tracking software (Jira), record management software, XML-based content management tools (Heretto, oXygen), and Google products.
  • Collaborate with internal and external professionals (project manager, information architect, media specialist, production specialist, subject matter experts from engineering).
  • Follow established writing standards and processes.
  • Maintain content development skills and tools through learning and development.
  • Stay informed of changing products, information technologies, and the technical communication industry.
  • Strong command of the English language (oral and written).
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Self-manage work assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Organize ideas and concepts to produce concise documentation.
  • Balance multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Constructively manage changing priorities.
  • High working-level computer literacy in authoring tools.
  • Ability to write to a highly technical and specialized audience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 6+ months of technical writing experience.

Job Details

Content development is accomplished by interpreting technical data into clear and concise printed and online written content that can easily be used by technical personnel and end-users with varying degrees of knowledge.

The content developer is expected to produce the following types of documents:

  • User Guides
  • Reference Guides
  • Quick Start Guides
  • Service Manual
  • Troubleshooting Guides
  • and more

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of project tracking software such as Jira, record management software, XML-based content management tools such as Heretto and oXygen, and Google products is essential.
  • Content developers accomplish assignments by collaborating with internal (project manager, information architect, media specialist, and production specialist) and external (subject matter experts from engineering) professionals to plan and develop assigned content. Researching and interviewing skills, coupled with a curious mind to know how things work is a plus.
  • Content developers are expected to follow established writing standards and processes and maintain content development skills and tools through various learning and development programs and skill matrix development. The content developer is expected to stay informed of changing products, information technologies, and the technical communication industry. Thirst for innovation, multimedia, and technology is a plus.
  • Strong command of the English language (oral and written), and able to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and across numerous functional areas.
  • Self-manage work assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent in organizing ideas and concepts to produce concise documentation
  • Balance multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Constructively manage changing priorities.
  • High working-level computer literacy in authoring tools, capability to use information mapping in preparing technical write-ups is an added advantage.
  • Ability to write to a highly technical and specialized audience using industry concepts and terms.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
