Job Summary

The Risk & Quantitative Analysis (RQA) group at BlackRock provides independent oversight of fiduciary and enterprise risks, aiming to enhance risk management practices and offer independent advice. This role focuses on Third Party Risk Management, identifying and mitigating risks introduced by existing and potential third parties through due diligence, incident management, and performance monitoring. The analyst will support platform users, collaborate with internal and external partners, interface with senior management, and help evolve the risk management framework for critical third parties.

Must Have

  • Provide targeted support, guidance and training to 3PRM platform users
  • Collaborate with multiple internal business, sourcing and risk partner teams to identify, test, monitor and escalate third-party risks
  • Support the head of third-party risk with interfacing with senior management, committees, clients and regulators
  • Support head of third-party risk to implement and evolve the risk management framework for critical and high-risk third parties
  • Challenge third-party risk management processes and controls, escalate issues for remediation and analyse data and trends
  • Escalate significant third-party operating events and trends
  • Operational Risk or Enterprise Risk management related experience, preferably within the financial services industry
  • Experience in preparing reporting for Committees and Boards
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify emerging risks, summarise issues and explain risk trends
  • Proven and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • BS/BA required, preferably Business, Finance, Risk Management

Third Party Risk

Third Party Risk Management works with internal and external business and risk partners to identify the risks that existing, and potential, third parties introduce to BlackRock and our clients, and assess controls to mitigate those risks through initial and ongoing due diligence, incident management and performance monitoring. BlackRock’s third parties include fund operations providers, technology vendors, index and market data providers, distributors and real asset service providers where BlackRock owns or is responsible for operating a physical asset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted support, guidance and training to 3PRM platform users, ensuring they can effectively use the application
  • Collaborate with multiple internal business, sourcing and risk partner teams, to identify, test, monitor and escalate third-party risks as part of the second line of defense
  • Support the head of third-party risk with interfacing with senior management, committees, clients and regulators
  • Support head of third-party risk to implement and evolve the risk management framework for critical and high-risk third parties
  • Challenge third-party risk management processes and controls, escalate issues for remediation and analyse data and trends to raise awareness of potential risks to senior management
  • Escalate significant third-party operating events and trends

Experience

  • Operational Risk or Enterprise Risk management related experience, preferably within the financial services industry
  • Experience in preparing reporting for Committees and Boards combined with an ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders required
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify emerging risks, summarise issues and explain risk trends
  • Proven and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • BS/BA required, preferably Business, Finance, Risk Management – CTPRA/CTPRP designation a plus
