The UX Research Manager at Fitbit's Health Experiences team will lead and drive the future of Google design within the Fitbit app. Responsibilities include influencing stakeholders, prioritizing projects aligned with product goals, driving product improvements via research, and leading teams in evaluating product and ecosystem impact. The role requires defining and evaluating product, service, and ecosystem impact, and owning outlook and strategy discussions through research-driven analysis of user, product, and business needs. This involves working with the Health App Foundations team responsible for the Fitbit app's user experience, encompassing core app experience, information architecture, and ecosystem integration. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of UX research methodologies and experience leading teams within a large organization.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 8+ years applied research experience
  • 3+ years leading design projects & managing teams
  • Influence stakeholders for user-centric solutions
  • Prioritize projects aligned with product goals
  • Drive product improvements through research
Good to have:
  • Master's or PhD in related field
  • 8+ years conducting UX research on products
  • 7+ years working with executive leadership
  • 5+ years managing projects in large, matrixed organization

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in an applied research setting, or similar.
  • 3 years of experience leading design projects and managing people or teams.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • 8 years of experience conducting UX research on products.
  • 7 years of experience working with executive leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
  • 5 years of experience managing projects, and working in a large, matrixed organization.

The Health App Foundations team is responsible for the overall end-user experience of the Fitbit app, including defining the core app experience, information architecture, common frameworks, ecosystem integration, and subscription experience.

As a UX Research Manager, you will help define and drive the future of Google design. You will identify and set product strategy, envision complex UX ecosystems and inspire teams to push the boundaries of what’s possible. You will possess a clear outlook of the future of user experience and pursue forward-thinking design.

  • Influence stakeholders across organizations to gain support for research-based, user-centric solutions. 
  • Own project priorities in alignment with larger product goals, and oversee allocation of resources within the project. 
  • Drive ideas to improve products and services through research-driven insights and recommendations. 
  • Lead teams to define and evaluate product, service, ecosystem impact. 
  • Own outlook and strategy discussions through research by analyzing, consolidating, or synthesizing user, product, service, or business needs.
