As a Real-Time VFX artist, you will independently and collaboratively create visually stunning VFX using particles, geometry, animation, and materials. You will concept and design effects in 2D or 3D, ensuring efficiency and adherence to technical budgets. This role involves optimizing the art pipeline, establishing technical benchmarks, and staying current with industry tools. Strong communication is essential for updating directors and producers on project milestones.
Must have:
  • Concept/design effects in 2D or 3D to convey design/motion.
  • Collaborate with Creative/Art Director to develop visually stunning VFX.
  • Create stylistically consistent and impactful VFX assets.
  • Ensure efficiency and adherence to technical budgets.
  • Regularly update Creative/Art Director and Producer on project milestones.
  • Work closely with fellow artists and engineers to optimize art pipeline.
  • Establish technical benchmarks.
  • Stay current with industry-standard tools and techniques.
  • On time delivery of project deliverables.
  • Outcome delivered as per project specifications consistently.
  • Time spent on an outcome is within project or budgeted mandays.

  • Knowledge of Lighting and Post process
  • Substance Painter
  • ZBrush / Sculpting workflow
  • Additional Art Styles for VFX (Realistic / Stylized)

Description

As a Real-Time VFX artist, you will be working both independently and collaboratively with the development team to make the best-looking VFX. The Effects Artist is expected to concept/design effects either in 2D or 3D to convey the design/motion and overall idea to their leads.

You will collaborate with our Creative/Art Director in developing visually stunning VFX that enhances our projects' artistic vision. You will create stylistically consistent and impactful VFX assets using particles, geometry, animation, and materials, while ensuring efficiency and adherence to technical budgets. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will regularly update the Creative/Art Director and Producer on project milestones and seek guidance when necessary.

In this role, you will work closely with fellow artists and engineers to optimize the art pipeline and establish technical benchmarks, fostering a collaborative environment. Staying current with industry-standard tools and techniques is vital to your personal and professional development.

Note: For this position, we require on-site presence.

Performance Metrics

VFX Artist will be measured according to the metric below, on a six (6) score rating scale:

  • On time delivery of project deliverables.
  • Outcome delivered as per project specifications
  • Outcome delivered as per specifications consistently
  • Time spent on an outcome is within project or budgeted mandays.
  • Successful application of new skills on a project which resulted in:
  • New opportunities/upsell as a direct result of new capabilities
  • Improved efficiency (time spent is less than budget)
  • Improved quality
  • Demonstration of new skill on a project task
  • Improved efficiency of existing skills, when comparing before/after completion time which resulted in:
  • Reduced frequency of repeat mistakes
  • Improved efficiency (time spent is less than budget)
  • Improved quality
  • Demonstration of growth/improvement of existing skills
  • On time delivery of project deliverables.

Job Skills

VFX Artist will possess the following job skills:

  • Hands-on experience with game engines (UE4, Unity3D, etc.)
  • Production-ready
  • 3D software and plug-in (Maya, 3Ds Max, Blender, etc.)
  • Production-ready
  • Knowledge of how to optimize for video game hardware
  • Production-ready
  • Adobe Photoshop and/or After Effects or Substance Designer
  • Production-ready
  • Practical and symbolic VFX knowledge
  • Production-ready
  • Particle / Simulation / Dynamic VFX
  • Production-ready
  • Shader / Material Authoring
  • Production-ready

Additional Competencies

Every VFX Artist must also demonstrate at least 1 additional competency at Production-ready proficiency, or 2 additional competencies at beginner-level:
