World Relief seeks a Volunteer Coordinator who is compassionate and an advocate for justice, standing up for the rights of the vulnerable and marginalized. The organization partners with the church to address global crises, with programming focused on humanitarian response, community strengthening, and refugee/immigrant services. The Volunteer Coordinator will recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and interns, maintaining a database of their skills and matching them to opportunities. Responsibilities include keeping volunteers informed, conveying the organization's purpose, and collaborating with program staff. The role also involves administrative tasks related to volunteer management and contributing to community outreach.

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. This position is reliant upon funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on resource availability.

If you answered ‘yes’, to any of the above, World Relief, and millions of people around the world need you.  World Relief seeks a Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and train new volunteers and interns, keeping a database of information and skills, matching volunteers and interns to opportunities that suit their skills, keeping them informed and conveying the organizations’ purpose to the public. 

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • This role is responsible for supervising others and includes responsibilities consistent with supervising employees, including but not limited to monitoring daily work activities, tracking and approving timesheets including approving time off, monitoring performance including entering goals, progress check-ins, and weekly or bi-weekly check-ins, documenting performance concerns, entering staff promotions, transitions, and separations in HRIS within required time frame. Managers at World Relief are also considered spiritual leaders and are expected to lead staff in a manner consistent with our Christian values, including but not limited to praying with staff, leading devotionals, and fostering a Christian environment in interactions with staff throughout World Relief.
    • All functions related to volunteers include interns by definition
    • Recruiting, training, and supervising new volunteers
    • Collecting volunteer information, availability, and skills, and maintaining an up-to-date database
    • Maintain volunteer applications, interviews, background checks and on-boarding paperwork and orientation
    • Keeping new and existing volunteers informed about the organization and volunteer opportunities
    • Matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skill sets, and ensuring they understand their responsibilities and receive the proper training
    • Collaboration with volunteer support staff embedded in programs regarding volunteer needs and program-related training
    • Recording and approving volunteers’ hours
    • Ensuring the organization's mission and purpose is conveyed to the public
    • Oversees or conducts regular reviews of the volunteer program to improve effectiveness and efficiency
    • Work closely with the rest of the CCE (Church and Community Engagement) Team on Community Outreach activities.
    • Excellent communication skills are a must
    • Other duties as assigned
