Job Summary
Anduril Industries is seeking a Warhead Project Engineer for their Energetics Team in Costa Mesa, CA. This role involves managing the design, testing, and transition of complex warhead systems from prototype to production. The engineer will be responsible for project planning, design of experiments, safety, and creating high-fidelity prototype parts. Collaboration with development teams, product managers, and other stakeholders is crucial to ensure speed to market and effectiveness.
Must Have
- Manage the scope, schedule, and resources required to deliver multiple warhead designs
- Transition warhead designs from prototype to production
- Support quickly creating high fidelity prototype parts to assess effectiveness thru testing
- Manage arena and system-level testing of munitions products from end-to-end
- Support the development, review, and execution of comprehensive test plans
- Work closely with development teams, Product managers, and other stakeholders
- Drive continuous product improvement by leading post-mortem events
- Compile technical documentation to support customers, filed operations, and engineering
- Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Test & Evaluation, Safety, and Product team partners
- BS or higher degree in mechanical, aerospace, or another engineering discipline
- 5-10 years’ work experience in design, analysis, and testing of munitions or related systems
- Demonstrated ability to manage a complex collection of subsystems
- Ability to travel as required for testing and customer meetings
- Experience preparing engineering documentation and design for manufacturing
- Experience with project schedules and cost estimating reports
- Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated capability in crafting project plans, managing budgets, and adhering to schedules
- Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance

- Active U.S. security clearance (DoD Secret or Top-Secret or DOE L or Q)
- Expert level experience creating complex mechanical designs specific to ordnance/munitions
- Expert level experience managing an ordnance development project
- Expert level experience with MS Project, Jira, or similar project management tools
- Prior experience in explosive operations and/or handling munitions
- Experience with the DoD Weapons Safety Boards
- Experience designing and scaling production of mechanical components at volume
- Experience developing or testing complex electrical or mechatronics systems

ABOUT THE TEAM
The Energetics Team is responsible for the design and testing of complex munitions systems and transition them from prototype to production. The team is working exciting new ordnance technology across multiple platforms.
ABOUT THE JOB
We are looking for Warhead Project Engineer in Costa Mesa, Ca. with experience in preparing engineering documentation (i.e. specifications, test procedures, technical reports, drawings) and design for manufacturing in addition to project schedules and cost estimating reports.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Mange the scope, schedule, and resources required to deliver multiple warhead designs and transition them from prototype to production.
- Support quickly creating high fidelity prototype parts to assess effectiveness thru testing.
- Manage arena and system-level testing of munitions products from end-to-end, including project planning, design of experiments, and safety.
- Support the development, review, and execution of comprehensive test plans for development, integration, verification and acceptance testing.
- Work closely with development teams, Product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure systems are designed and built with speed to market and effectiveness in mind.
- Drive continuous product improvement by leading post-mortem events involving engineering stakeholders.
- Compile technical documentation to support customers, filed operations, and engineering.
- Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Test & Evaluation, Safety, and Product team partners.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BS or higher degree in mechanical, aerospace, or another engineering discipline.
- 5-10 years’ work experience as an individual contributing engineer or engineering manager, focused on design, analysis, and testing of munitions or related systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a complex collection of subsystems.
- Ability to travel as required for testing and customer meetings (surges up to 25%).
- Experience preparing engineering documentation (i.e. specifications, test procedures, technical reports, drawings) and design for manufacturing in addition to project schedules and cost estimating reports.
- Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills; proven ability to gather requirements and collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, product management, and customer support.
- Demonstrated capability in crafting project plans, managing budgets, and adhering to schedules.
- Passion for defending the United States and her allies.
- Be able to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

US Salary Range
$146,000 - $194,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
