Haleon, a world-leading consumer healthcare company, is seeking a Machinery Safety and EHS Co-Op for its Guayama site. This full-time internship offers hands-on experience in risk assessments, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement projects within a multidisciplinary team. The role focuses on driving safety and operational efficiency, protecting people, and improving processes in packaging, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical environments. Candidates should be third-year engineering students with bilingual fluency in Spanish and English.
Must have:
  • Conduct machinery safety risk assessments.
  • Support safety system upgrades and equipment replacement projects.
  • Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and engineers.
  • Document findings and contribute to corrective actions.
  • Participate in Kaizen activities, OP LS training documentation, and Gemba walks.
  • Pursuing a BSc in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering.
  • Active student status for the duration of the Co-Op.
  • Eligible to work in Guayama, Puerto Rico.
  • Eligible to work onsite on a full-time basis (40 hours/week).
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (written/spoken).

As a Machinery Safety and EHS Co-Op at Haleon’s Guayama site, you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team driving both safety and operational efficiency. This role offers hands-on experience in risk assessments, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement projects—all while helping protect people and improving processes.

What will your individual contribution at Haleon be?

  • Conduct machinery safety risk assessments by observing equipment operations and identifying hazards.
  • Support safety system upgrades and equipment replacement projects, including pallet inverter and post hoist improvements.
  • Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and engineers to propose and implement safety and efficiency controls.
  • Document findings using structured templates and contribute to corrective actions and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in Kaizen activities, OP LS training documentation, and Gemba walks to enhance process understanding.
  • Work independently and cross-functionally, gaining exposure to packaging, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical environments.

Requirements:

  • Pursuing a BSc in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering (third-year students preferred).
  • Must have active student status for the duration of the Co-Op.
  • Must be eligible to work in Guayama, Puerto Rico at the time of, and for the duration of employment. Employees will be required to furnish evidence of PR work authorization.
  • Must be eligible to work onsite on a full-time basis during the Co-Op duration (40 hours/week) and provide their own funding for relocation and commuting.

Language requirement:

  • Written and spoken fluency in Spanish and English.
  • Due to the nature of the work tasks, applicants must be bilingual in Spanish and English (written/spoken) to be considered, as in their role the incumbent must work closely with external/internal stakeholders in other provinces/countries.

Location: Guayama, Puerto Rico

Expected Start Date: January 2026

Rate: $24.50
