Scientific Games is seeking an Advanced Software Engineer to lead the delivery of new product features, implementations, and integrations. This role involves close collaboration with internal and external customers to ensure applications meet business needs and SLAs. The engineer will coordinate product development and architectural roadmaps, ensuring high-quality code delivery according to technical designs and requirements. Responsibilities also include refining team standards, adhering to security standards, utilizing software testing knowledge, and maintaining project documentation. The position requires staying updated on new technologies, mentoring team members, and contributing to continuous process improvements.
Must have:
  • Manages and leads the delivery of new product features, implementations, integrations to SGI and third-parties, maintenance, and other technical projects.
  • Works closely with internal and external customers to make sure that applications meet the needs of the business and the company’s SLAs.
  • Coordinates the establishment and execution of product development and architectural roadmaps that align with the company’s overall vision.
  • Ensures delivery of quality work with clear, well-commented code as scheduled, in accordance with technical design and product requirements.
  • Helps refine and enforce team standards for development and testing activities.
  • Adheres to the company’s and industry security standards.
  • Utilizes knowledge of software testing.
  • Maintains project-related documentation in anticipation of internal and third-party audits.
  • Assists in the preparation of responses to RFPs including technical responses, sizing, costing, schedules, product demonstration, and other related tasks.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge on new programming methods and technologies to anticipate and accommodate future changes dictated by business and technical growth.
  • Provides technical guidance and mentoring to team members.
  • Champions continuous improvements of process and technologies.
  • Ensures that team standards are met by team members.
  • Assists the Software Development Manager as a technical leader within the team, providing input on technical direction/strategy.
  • Conducts interviews for new staff members.

Position Summary

Job Duties / Key Accountabilities:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must have 8 years of progressive experience in software engineering positions, performing the following:
  • Utilizing knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Reporting Services.
  • Utilizing experience in ETL and writing stored procedures.
  • Utilizing experience in Database performance monitoring and tweaking.
  • Utilizing experience with performing Database Maintenance.
  • Performing data migration.
  • Utilizing experience in SQL Server Availability Groups.
  • Utilizing knowledge of Team Foundation Server (TFS) for source control and collaboration.
  • Utilizing knowledge of design patterns and clean coding practices.
  • Utilizing knowledge of security best practices as they relate to software engineering.
  • Utilizing experience in SQL server design and development patterns including SSRS, Stored Procedures, Views, and complex T-SQL.
  • Utilizing knowledge of building and operating software in the cloud including Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.
  • Utilizing experience in Customer Interaction and Requirements Analysis.
  • Utilizing experience in software design and architecture best practices.

Qualifications

Education and Years of Experience

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must have 8 years of progressive experience in software engineering positions.
