Job Description

The Animation Supervisor will be responsible for managing leads, ensuring creative continuity, and providing leadership to the animation crew. They will interpret the Animation Director's vision, provide clear briefs to artists, and maintain department standards. The role involves attending meetings, delivering high-quality output, and staying updated on industry pipelines. The Animation Supervisor will also be responsible for maintaining a good knowledge of anatomy and muscle dynamics. The job requires the candidate to effectively communicate with animators and production teams, while also being organized and proactive. The supervisor should be calm under pressure and committed to meeting production deadlines.
Must have:
  • 7+ years of high-level animation experience in feature animation.
  • Served in a Lead Animator role over 3 feature productions.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge of MAYA and other departments.
  • Experience with scheduling, bidding and casting shots.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities / Job Duties
  • Directly managing any leads on the show to subsequently allow them to delegate effectively and do their job to creative and technical Responsibilities
  • Delivering creative realisation to the  Animation Director and ensuring creative continuity across a Show
  • Interpreting the creative vision of the Animation Director and providing a clear creative brief to each artist
  • Providing creative and technical leadership, support and feedback for the crew
  • Managing approval statuses for Animation submissions
  • Attending department and show Production Technology meetings
  • Delivering the output of the department to the required quality standards with a view to continually raising the bar
  • Adhering to consistent department workflows and processes
  • Staying current with Animation department pipelines and workflows
  • Maintaining a good knowledge of anatomy and muscle dynamics
  • Continuous self development
  • Maintaining department documentation
Job Requirements / Must Haves
  • Extensive experience animating at a high level in Feature animation ( 7 years +)
  • Have served in a Lead Animator role over 3 feature length productions.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge of MAYA and strong fundamental knowledge of other departments.
  • Experience with scheduling, bidding and casting shots.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with animators including those with little technical knowledge as well as very technical production technology teams
  • Organised, proactive, goal oriented and a self-starter 
  • A team player and excellent communicator, with a keenness for collaboration 
  • Adaptable and willing to learn new skills and techniques – including proprietary software 
  • Calm under pressure and committed to meet production deadlines
