Context

NXP's Wireless Connectivity group is preparing the next generation of wireless connectivity chips for IoT, industrial, home automation, and automotive applications.

These chips will set the benchmark in terms of consumption, performance, and latency for Wi-Fi, BT/BLE, and IEEE 802.15.4 based products.

With over 500 million chips sold to date, the IEEE 802.15.4 standard is the predominant network standard for the Internet of Things. The Zigbee protocol is already widely deployed and will continue to grow. Its main applications are in home automation (set-top boxes, routers, smart lighting, connected sockets, remote controls), smart meters (gas or electricity meters), and smart cities (smart public lighting).

In parallel, the "Connectivity Standard Alliance" has launched a standard aimed at standardizing home automation called Matter (based on Thread and Wi-Fi technologies) which should soon strengthen the adoption of the IEEE 802.15.4 standard.

The embedded software development team for wireless connectivity, based in our R&D competence center in Caen, provides the IEEE 802.15.4 embedded software (Firmware and Middleware) for NXP's tri-radio chips.

This team of 15 engineers handles all aspects of the software development cycle, from specification to implementation, testing, and validation.

In this context, we are looking for an apprentice for a 3-year apprenticeship/professionalization contract to support the team's activities.

The apprentice will take charge of/carry out one or more of the following missions:

  • Development of tools used for testing or developing embedded software (languages: Python, C++, C)
  • Development of tests intended to validate the embedded software developed by the team (languages: Python)
  • Development of embedded software for ARM or RISC-V processors (languages: C, assembly)
  • Debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG probes

Your profile

  • Genuine interest in electronics and embedded software development
  • Programming notions
  • Ability to organize well when faced with a set of complex tasks
  • Ability to quickly grasp new technical subjects
  • Good level of English, ability to evolve in an international context
