  • Extensive experience with lean development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with AI technologies and experience driving AI adoption in products.

About the role

The Legal & Regulatory division is transitioning from a localized product development approach to a more divisional approach aiming to build products with a global reach. This will enable a better leverage of the company resources and faster time to market for innovations. To help with this transition we are looking for a Manager Product Development.

As the Associate Director LIP Product Engineering, you will manage the team leads of the legal information product group. As a Senior Member of the engineering leadership team, you will play a critical role in implementing lean development practices, standardizing new application development across our portfolio, standardizing development architecture, and driving the adoption of infrastructure as code including handsfree deployment.

Additionally, you will provide the strategy and help in execution of migration of legacy applications to modern platforms, ensuring we create a flexible technology stack remains at the forefront of innovation. A key part of your role will also involve driving AI adoption into our products to enhance their capabilities and performance. You will be responsible for oversight of product development, planning, and design of legal and regulatory research initiatives all in alignment with strategic and operational goals.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead, mentor and manage a team of development leads that are each responsible for the delivery of their own team. Set technical strategies and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Manage and lead the software development process from planning and design to testing and deployment.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment to achieve project and organizational objectives.
  • Take an active participation in technical debt management.
  • Make sure the development takes the end goal in mind even if it crosses multiple organizational boundaries.
  • Make sure the development process caters for non-functional requirements like security, performance and throughput of the systems.
  • Foster collaboration with the content- and global platform services teams.

Technology Integration

  • Integrate the latest technologies into legal research.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends to enhance research experiences.

Strategic Alignment

  • Align legal research programs and initiatives with organizational strategic goals, ensuring they support both short- and long-term objectives.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure the solutions addresses those needs effectively.
  • Foster a balance between time to market and quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in leading development efforts, mentoring engineers, and delivering scalable solutions.
  • Strong background in software development, preferably with experience in multiple languages, frameworks and platforms.
  • Proven experience leading a team of developers in a diverse technological environment.
  • Extensive experience with lean development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with AI technologies and experience driving AI adoption in products.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong strategic and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to delegate and solve problems with minimal supervision and balance multiple projects while working constructively in a team environment.
