Electronic Arts' Firemonkeys studio in Melbourne is seeking an Associate UI Experience Designer for AAA mobile games. This role involves designing, building, testing, and implementing user interfaces from wireframes to in-game layouts. The designer will collaborate with creative developers, focusing on creating aesthetically appealing and engaging user experiences while advocating for player needs and working within existing UI styles.
Must have:
  • Create and produce UI artwork
  • Design and implement aesthetically appealing and engaging user-experience
  • Work closely with designers and programmers to improve user experience
  • Work within a small motivated game team and communicate effectively
  • Advocate for the player experience, identify and work to remove dark patterns
  • Work within an existing and evolving UI style and solve graphical and technical limitations
  • Report project status to your lead and other major stakeholders
  • Strong design and typography portfolio
  • Strong iconography skills
  • Videogame and/or relatable App UI experience within Web or Digital
  • Proficiency with Adobe CS, Illustrator, Photoshop, XD or Figma
  • Some experience with keyframe animation in support of interface elements
  • Ability to learn in-house UI development tools
  • A passion for video games, art and improving user experiences

Associate UI Experience Designer

Firemonkeys, Electronic Arts' leading mobile games studio, located in Melbourne, Australia, is home to the preeminent Sims experience on mobile, The Sims FreePlay. Associate UI Experience Designer

We’re looking for a talented and dedicated UI Experience Designer to join us in developing AAA mobile games. You will work with a variety of creative developers and report to the Studio XD Lead. In this diverse role, you will design, build, test and help implement our mobile games user interface, from initial flows and wireframes, through to prototypes and final in game layouts.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and produce UI artwork in accordance with the direction of the Art Lead, Designer and Producer
  • Design and implement an aesthetically appealing, innovative, and engaging user-experience
  • Work closely with designers and programmers to improve the user experience
  • Work within a small motivated game team and communicate effectively
  • Advocate for the player experience, identify and work to remove dark patterns, while preserving the game’s unique design
  • Work within an existing and evolving UI style and solve graphical and technical limitations
  • Report status of the project to your lead and the other major stakeholders of your current feature.

Qualifications:

  • A strong design and typography portfolio
  • Strong Iconography skills
  • Videogame and/or relatable App UI experience within Web or Digital
  • Mobile UI, Console or PC experience will be highly regarded
  • Proficiency with Adobe CS, Illustrator, Photoshop, XD or Figma
  • Some experience with keyframe animation in support of interface elements
  • Ability to learn in-house UI development tools
  • A passion for video games, art and improving user experiences is a must.
