We’re looking to hire a Backend Developer III for a global technology company known for its innovation in music and audio streaming. You’ll join the Messaging Platform & Tooling team to support backend development initiatives during a team member’s parental leave. This is a 7-12 month contract opportunity. The role is fully remote, working Eastern Time zone.
Design, develop, and maintain backend services in a Java-based environment
Implement solutions for cloud-native applications on GCP, AWS, or Azure
Deliver scalable, distributed systems with strong operational stability
Contribute to code quality and performance improvements using metrics and monitoring tools
Mentor and coach other developers in technical and leadership growth
Collaborate cross-functionally with teams using Agile methodologies
5+ years of experience with Java/Scala development
Proven experience with cloud environments (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and concurrency
Experience building and supporting Linux-based applications
Familiarity with Agile, TDD, CI/CD, and observability best practices
Coaching experience and passion for team improvement
Ability to design pragmatic, cost-efficient technical solutions
