Job Description

As a Build Engineer with Gamebreaking Studios, you will help various studios succeed in making great games by working with BespokeCI, our tailor-made build system, to enable teams to playtest their game daily. This entry-level paid internship, lasting 3-6 months, involves troubleshooting errors, applying updates, implementing customer requests, and contributing to a positive team culture. You'll work remotely with game designers, artists, and engineers across Latin America, with a preference for 40 hours per week.
Must Have:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot errors and build breaks across various studios and technologies.
  • Apply monthly updates and security patches to client applications and infrastructure.
  • Monitor customer infrastructure health and remediate issues (restart services, clear disk space, log bugs).
  • Maintain, update, and create scripts and tools in C#, Powershell, and/or Bash.
  • Onboard new customers to BespokeCI by installing and configuring the system.
  • Work with project managers to deliver features to players.
  • Contribute meaningfully to growing and improving the positive culture at Gamebreaking.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve or escalate issues in unfamiliar systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience using a command-line interface (CLI) in Windows, Linux, or MacOS.
  • Ability to write scripts or software packages in C#, Bash, Powershell, Python, Java, Javascript, Groovy, or C++.
  • Experience with cloud computing and cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with common game engines such as Unreal, Unity, or Godot.

Duration and Employment Status

We are a fully remote working environment seeking current students or recent graduates of universities, bootcamps, or those with similar experience to join our company. This is an entry-level position with no prior work experience required, though candidates with prior work experience will be considered.

This position is a paid internship between 3 and 6 months duration, with the possibility of a direct hire to full-time at its conclusion. We seek a candidate able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, with a preference for 40 hours. The duration and timeframe of this internship are flexible depending on the candidate and their university’s situation

Benefits and employment duration may differ based on student status and country-specific laws

Compensation

We're open to applications across Latin America and will determine compensation for other locales as-needed.

Mexico - 18000 pesos per month

Brazil - 5250 R$ per month

Peru - 3500 S/ per month

Colombia - 3900000 COP per month

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • A passion for games and entertainment that shows. Whether you love video games, board games, cosplay, or freeze tag — we want to know! If it doesn’t shine through your resume (e.g. work, academic, or community experience), please submit a cover letter
  • Strong troubleshooting skills. Candidates can be expected to see a break in an unfamiliar system or language and must be able to gather relevant information and either resolve the issue or know the proper channels to escalate it to.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience using a command-line interface (CLI) in Windows, Linux, or MacOS.
  • The ability to write scripts or software packages in at least one of the following languages: C#, Bash, Powershell, Python, Java, Javascript, Groovy, C++, or similar.
  • Experience with cloud computing and cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Familiarity with at least one of the common game engines such as Unreal, Unity, Godot, or similar.

Your Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot errors and build breaks that may occur across a variety of studios using different technologies.
  • Apply monthly updates and security patches to a number of client applications and infrastructure.
  • Monitor customer infrastructure health, and remediate as necessary, whether it be to restart failing services, clear up disk space, or identify and log new bugs to our product teams.
  • Maintain, update, and create scripts and tools in C#, Powershell, and/or Bash.
  • Onboard new customers to BespokeCI, working through a checklist of actions to install and configure the system for their needs.
  • Work with project managers inside and outside our studio to deliver features to players.
  • Contribute meaningfully to growing & improving the positive culture at Gamebreaking

  • QA - QA Testers can be the last line of defense for a successful game launch. Build Engineers and QA often share a set of skills and work closely together.
  • Game Engineer - Improve your coding skills and understanding of game development as a build engineer, growing into a skill game engineer writing sandbox, combat, networking, or graphics code.
  • Cloud Engineer - Build complex and scalable applications using cloud technologies.

Working as a non-US citizen

This position is open to candidates living and working in Latin America. Applicants must be fluent in English, willing to work according to US time zones (must be available 8am - 3pm Pacific Time), and have a strong, stable internet connection conducive to remote work and video calls. Outside the US, we work with an Employer of Record (https://www.deel.com/) to hire employees and contractors.
