We’re looking for a junior-level Community Manager to help scale SmartBear’s engagement with developers, testers, and quality professionals across multiple community touchpoints. This includes our open source projects (like Swagger, Pact, Spectral, Prism, SoapUI, and Stoplight Elements), the SmartBear Community forum, and emerging spaces such as Discord, Reddit, and Hacker News. In this role, you’ll support curriculum development for the SmartBear Academy, manage conversations across public channels, and strengthen relationships with users by being helpful, responsive, and proactive.
Must have:
  • Participate in conversations across online communities (forums, GitHub, Discord, Reddit, Hacker News)
  • Answer questions, flag issues, and foster constructive engagement
  • Ensure latest developments are brought to community attention
  • Curate and maintain SmartBear Community Forum topics, tags, FAQs, and campaigns
  • Support development and rollout of SmartBear Academy training resources
  • Monitor community health and sentiment, providing regular insights
  • Collaborate with internal teams to route user feedback
  • Celebrate community success stories
  • Assist in planning and executing community campaigns, contests, surveys, and initiatives
  • Grow relationships with open source contributors and commercial product users
  • Help onboard new users into community ecosystems

To build and extend SmartBear’s success and growth, we’re looking for a skilled Test Evangelist to join our team that has market and technical expertise.

Position Summary:

We’re looking for a junior-level Community Manager to help scale SmartBear’s engagement with developers, testers, and quality professionals across multiple community touchpoints. This includes our open source projects (like Swagger, Pact, Spectral, Prism, SoapUI, and Stoplight Elements), the SmartBear Community forum, and emerging spaces such as Discord, Reddit, and Hacker News where our commercial and/or open source users are active.

In this role, you’ll work closely with our existing community manager and the Developer Relations team to support curriculum development for the SmartBear Academy, help manage conversations across public channels, and strengthen relationships with users by being helpful, responsive, and proactive. If you’re curious, organized, and enjoy enabling technical people succeed, this is a great opportunity to grow into a key role within the Developer Relations and Community team.

Community Manager can expect to:

  • Participate in conversations across a wide range of online communities—forums, GitHub, Discord, Reddit, Hacker News—answering questions, flagging issues, fostering constructive engagement, and ensuring that our latest developments are brought to the attention of those communities/audiences.
  • Help curate and maintain SmartBear Community Forum topics, tags, FAQs, and engagement campaigns.
  • Work as part of the Developer Relations team in the development and rollout of SmartBear Academy training resources.
  • Monitor community health and sentiment, providing regular insights back to internal teams.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, DevRel, and Support to route user feedback and celebrate community success stories.
  • Assist in planning and executing community campaigns, contests, surveys, and other initiatives.
  • Grow relationships with open source contributors, commercial product users, and help onboard new users into our community ecosystems.

Candidate with proven experience in:

  • 3-5 years experience in a community, support, or developer-focused role.
  • Understanding exposure to, software development workflows.
  • Working knowledge of QA, DevOps, or developer tooling is a plus.

Candidates demonstrate non-technical experience:

  • Friendly, empathetic communicator who enjoys connecting with users.
  • Strong written communication and content organization skills.
  • Comfortable balancing multiple responsibilities and shifting priorities.
  • Motivated by collaboration, transparency, and continuous learning.
  • Comfortable working in distributed teams and remote-first environments.
  • Interest in learning about testing, APIs, open source, or developer education.
