Job Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Data Governance Manager to contribute to the development and execution of the next generation of enterprise-wide data governance initiatives at Envestnet. This role will sit within the Data Privacy team and will be instrumental in ensuring that data is managed as a strategic asset, supporting privacy compliance, data quality, and ethical data use across the organization. As part of our team, the Data Governance Manager will be responsible for tactically executing against the evolving data governance strategy and objectives at Envestnet. They will partner with business and technology leaders to shape, guide, and advance an enterprise-wide data governance framework that ensures data is accurate, accessible, consistent, and secure. The ideal candidate for this role has a blend of Data Governance, Data Privacy, and Compliance experiences.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead & evolve the burgeoning enterprise-wide data governance team, strategy, framework, and supporting processes, including data ownership, stewardship, quality, and accountability frameworks.
- Define and enforce clear roles and responsibilities for data owners and stewards across business units, collaborating with extended teams and leadership to create program awareness and drive issue resolution / escalation.
- Facilitate cross-functional stewardship programs and councils to ensure accountability for authoritative data sources, data quality, accuracy, lineage, privacy, and compliance; maintain and enhance associated KPIs.
- Drive data quality and integrity initiatives, including the development and implementation of data quality standards, validation rules, and monitoring processes.
- Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to remediate data issues and improve trust in enterprise data assets.
- Contribute to the classification of data assets based on sensitivity, regulatory impact, and business value.
- Partner with Privacy, Security, and Legal teams to ensure appropriate controls are applied to sensitive and regulated data.
- Author and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures aligned with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, SOX, PCI DSS) and industry leading frameworks.
- Ensure governance practices support audit readiness and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
- Guide implementation of data governance technology systems and processes, including considerations for metadata management, data lineage, and monitoring tools.
- Supports incident management processes for data quality or governance failures; documents, investigates, and reports issues, and ensures long-term remediation is implemented across IT systems.
- Adherence to and application of Envestnet legal, compliance, risk, business continuity and administrative policy within the role and department(s) including the timely completion of training & awareness, affirmations and testing as requested.
- As part of the responsibilities for this role, you will understand and readily support Envestnet's established corporate business practices, policies, internal controls and procedures designed to create value or minimize risk
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related fields (e.g., Information Management, Data Science, etc.).
- 5+ years of related experience in Data Governance and related frameworks, Privacy, Cybersecurity, Risk, Compliance, or IT Audit.
- Strong knowledge of industry leading data governance principles, practices, and technologies, including an understanding of significant related regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, etc.).
- Proficient in defining strategic direction and operationally executing against defined goals and expectations, identifying issues and contributing to problem-solving solutions.
- Experience applying structured methodologies and frameworks to deliver data governance solutions across diverse business environments.
- Proven ability to build alignment among diverse stakeholders by balancing priorities, managing trade-offs, and driving consensus toward shared objectives.
- Ability to create high-quality deliverables with autonomy.
- The ability to multitask effectively and deal with change and ambiguity in a diverse and constantly evolving environment.
- Working understanding of the financial services industry, products, and services.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with data governance tools (e.g., data discovery, data lineage, metadata management).
- Willingness to pursue a related professional certification(s): CDMP, CIPM, CIPT, CDPSE, CISA, CRISC, CISM, and/or CISSP.

Salary:
The annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000.
