As a Data Passport Metadata Lead, you will collaborate with the Data Trust team and stakeholders to develop workflows and requirements for consolidating data governance metadata. Your responsibilities include capturing requirements, automating processes, and creating a sustainable model. You will be involved in building data pipelines, architectures, and datasets. You will be responsible for collating metadata, mapping data elements, working with IT and Change, establishing data models, and supporting the build-out of the Data Passport concept by leading the metadata stream. This involves collaboration with the wider team to build connectors, leading the collation of metadata, mapping data elements, and supporting the development of data models.
Must have:
  • 7-10 years of metadata lead experience in financial services.
  • Experience with metadata tools like Solidatus or Snowflake.
  • Experience in a product-led environment.
Good to have:
  • Understanding of data governance tools such as Solidatus or MS Purview.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making ability.

Job Details

ROLE SUMMARY:                                                 

As a Data Passport Metadata Lead within the Data Passport team, you will collaborate closely with the wider Data Trust team and key divisional stakeholders to develop the workflows requirement that will consolidate data governance metadata to feed the product. You will be responsible for capturing requirements, delivering automation working with wider team and stakeholders to create a sustainable model for the product. To be successful in the role you will require a strong background in building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data sets. 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Collaborate with the wider team to build connectors and metadata flows to support the data passport product delivery
  • Lead the collation of metadata, in the required format and aligned to internal policy, for ingestion into a customer-facing product
  • Work with business analysts and solution designers to identify business data elements and capture the various metadata relating to them, ensuring that metadata becomes a regular deliverable of change initiatives.  
  • Oversee the maintenance of metadata artefacts, reporting and escalating where appropriate, resolving issues, gaps, and inconsistencies. 
  • Map data elements from source dictionaries to product level (customer facing) dictionaries
  • Work with IT and Change to establish fit-for-purpose metadata tooling and support it through implementation and into production 
  • Establish a thorough understanding of the Solidatus data models  
  • Support the data architects in the development of data models. 
  • Help determine and manage data cleaning requirements 
  • Support the promotion of new modelled content to the enterprise models, ensuring that it is consistent with existing definitions. 
  • Support the build out of the Data Passport concept by leading the metadata stream

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • 7-10 years of proven experience as a metadata lead in the financial services sector.
  • Extensive practical experience of working with metadata tools (e.g. Solidatus, Snowflake or others)
  • Experience working in a product-led environment, using metadata to deliver customer-facing products
  • Excellent written and verbal communications  
  • Logical thinker; able to articulate thoughts both verbally and diagrammatically
  • Strong understanding of data management principles, data governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in project management tools, such as Jira, and would be an advantage to have an understanding in data governance tools such as Solidatus, MS Purview, or similar. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to drive decision making through data
