Job Description

Electronic Arts is seeking a Director of Product for Capital Games, a Sacramento-based studio known for Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. This senior leadership role reports to the Studio GM and involves leading the product management function, overseeing product strategy, monetization, and player engagement for both existing live services and new games in development. The Director will manage a team of product managers, champion data-driven decision making, and partner with cross-functional leaders to deliver world-class experiences that delight players and grow the business, significantly influencing the creative and business direction of Capital Games and EA Mobile.

  • Experience taking products through the full lifecycle: concept, launch, scale, and live operations.
  • Skilled at forecasting, financial modeling, and communicating business performance.
  • Exceptional leadership, mentorship, and team management skills.
  • Ability to balance creative vision with business outcomes.

Capital Games is the Sacramento-based studio behind Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, one of the longest-running and most successful mobile live service RPGs. With over 150M downloads worldwide and a passionate global player community, Galaxy of Heroes continues to thrive ten years after launch. Looking ahead, Capital Games is also incubating new titles to expand our portfolio and shape the future of EA Mobile.

The Challenge Ahead

Reporting to the Studio GM, the Director of Product will lead the product management function for the studio. This includes responsibility for the long-term success of Galaxy of Heroes as a live service, and ownership of product strategy, monetization, and player engagement for new games in development. You will manage a team of product managers, champion data-driven decision making, and partner with cross-functional leaders to deliver world-class experiences that delight players and grow the business.

This is a senior studio leadership role with significant influence on the creative and business direction of Capital Games and EA Mobile.

Responsibilities

  • Set and Drive Strategy
  • Define and lead the product vision and strategy for Galaxy of Heroes and future Capital Games titles, aligned with EA’s business goals.
  • Use player insights, analytics, and market research to shape roadmaps, identify opportunities, mitigate risks.
  • Live Service Excellence
  • Oversee live operations, content cadence, and economy management for Galaxy of Heroes.
  • Ensure roadmaps balance player engagement, creative vision, and financial performance.
  • Partner with design, analytics, and marketing to continually improve retention, monetization, and community satisfaction.
  • New Product Development
  • Guide product strategy and greenlight criteria for new games in incubation.
  • Evaluate concepts through competitive analysis, market sizing, and player research.
  • Collaborate with creative leadership to shape innovative, scalable product experiences.
  • Leadership & Mentorship
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of product managers.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Establish and share best practices in product management across the studio and EA Mobile.
  • Business Partnership
  • Collaborate with Finance on forecasting, planning, and portfolio performance.
  • Align with UA, Marketing, and Publishing to maximize acquisition and lifecycle value.
  • Communicate strategy, updates, and results to EA leadership and external partners, including Lucasfilm.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, game economy design, or live service leadership.
  • Proven track record running successful mobile free-to-play games, ideally RPG or collection-based titles.
  • Strong understanding of game economies, monetization strategies, and live service operations.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).

PAY RANGES

  • California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. San Francisco) *$186,900 - $289,700 USD

In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
