Autodesk is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director, Platform Communications to lead communications for the company’s Platform, Services, and Emerging Technology (PSET) organization. This high-impact role involves serving as the lead communications advisor to Autodesk’s Chief Technology Officer, Chief Trust Officer, and SVP of Research & Development, shaping and amplifying Autodesk’s innovation, research, and trust narratives. The role requires developing and executing integrated communications strategies to elevate Autodesk’s leadership in platform development, cybersecurity, research, and AI innovation, while leading a small team and collaborating globally.
Must have:

  • Strong collaboration skills in matrixed organizations.
  • Leadership experience including team management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.

Position Overview

Autodesk is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director, Platform Communications, to lead communications for the company’s Platform, Services, and Emerging Technology (PSET) organization. In this high-impact role, you will serve as the lead communications advisor to Autodesk’s Chief Technology Officer, Chief Trust Officer, and SVP of Research & Development, shaping and amplifying Autodesk’s innovation, research, and trust narratives across key audiences.

You will develop and execute integrated communications strategies that elevate Autodesk’s leadership in platform development, cybersecurity and trust, research, and AI innovation. You’ll also lead a small, growing team and collaborate across our global communications function and cross-functional partners. This is a highly visible role that requires exceptional storytelling, executive presence, strategic planning, and people leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Communications Leadership: Develop and execute internal and external communications strategies that highlight Autodesk’s technology vision, trust initiatives, and R&D advancements—ensuring alignment with corporate priorities and audience needs.
  • Executive Communications: Serve as a strategic communications partner to senior PSET executives, creating high-impact narratives, speeches, presentations, thought leadership content, and messaging for key events and internal forums.
  • Narrative Development: Shape cohesive and forward-looking narratives that reinforce Autodesk’s role as a platform leader in the Design and Make category, with emphasis on cloud, AI, data, research, and cybersecurity.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with teams across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Legal, and Investor Relations to ensure message consistency and alignment across all key business moments and external engagements.
  • Content Creation & Media Strategy: Guide the creation of executive blogs, media materials, and thought leadership content that simplifies complex technical topics and positions Autodesk as a technology and innovation leader.
  • Internal Engagement: Support internal communications programs that build employee understanding and engagement with Autodesk’s platform strategy and PSET’s role in driving innovation.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Manage and grow a high-performing team (initially 1–2 direct reports), fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Impact Measurement: Track and report on communications outcomes to demonstrate strategic value and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, or corporate affairs, ideally within the technology or innovation space
  • Proven success advising senior executives and shaping complex, enterprise-level narratives
  • Deep understanding of emerging technologies including AI, cloud platforms, data infrastructure, research, and cybersecurity
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling abilities, with a track record of creating content that resonates with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated experience developing executive communications, including keynotes, blog posts, and leadership messages
  • Strong collaboration skills and comfort navigating matrixed organizations and cross-functional partnerships
  • Leadership experience, including team management, mentoring, and culture-building
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field (Master’s degree a plus)

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $172,000 and $278,190. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
