Interscope Capitol Business & Legal Affairs is looking for a savvy professional with familiarity in the world of music licensing and clearance, whether on the recording side, the publishing side, samples or artists. Director, Rights & Clearances will perform a variety of duties, and the candidate for this job must be able to liaise with all levels of personnel and departments, including, without limitation, Business & Legal Affairs, Production, A&R, Marketing, Revenue, and Licensing to help assist with the release of content by label artists.
The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who possesses a strong ability to multi-task, works well under pressure with tight time deadlines, and has a passion for music. Preferably with at minimum, 3-5 years of experience, who is looking to take the next step in their career. This job will be focused on working with the labels and artists of the Capitol Music Group.
- Be part of the Rights and Clearances Team to ensure that all necessary clearances are obtained for the release of content across the label;
- In particular this role will focus on ensuring that all necessary side-artist and sample clearances are obtained for the release of content by label artists;
- Advise and assist internal and external source on rights inquiries regarding uses of label content;
- Track upcoming artist releases to identify potential side-artist and sample clearance issues;
- Investigate and respond to rights inquiries from internal and external sources;
- Keep detailed and organized information on department tracking charts, with pertinent information concerning outstanding clearances, contracts, and royalty data;
- 3-5 years Music Industry legal/licensing/admin experience
- Excellent typing and computer skills, including in Word, Excel, Outlook
- Outgoing personality
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Highly dependable and can be relied upon to meet tight deadlines and safeguard confidential information
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Ability to learn new disciplines and be part of the process to always look to create efficiencies
