Job Description

Zeeco is seeking a Drafter - Process Burner to join their team. The role involves creating and modifying parametric solid models and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor, and developing 2D fabrication drawings, layouts, and Bills of Materials for process burners and combustion systems. Responsibilities include preparing detailed drawings, ensuring adherence to project specifications and production standards, and performing calculations using standard formulas. The drafter will collaborate with the engineering team to confirm equipment selection, review customer mark-ups, incorporate design changes, and provide technical input. They will also ensure drawing accuracy, review others' work, assist with design document revisions, and support shop visits to resolve design issues. Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Microsoft Office Suite is required. This is a full-time, on-site position.
Must have:
  • Create parametric models and assemblies with Autodesk Inventor.
  • Develop 2D fabrication drawings, layouts, and BOMs.
  • Prepare detailed drawings with various views and sections.
  • Adhere to project specifications and production standards.
  • Assist engineering team with equipment selection and design.
  • Review customer mark-ups and incorporate design changes.
  • Ensure accuracy of own drawings and review others' work.
  • Support shop visits for design issue resolution.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and CAD tools.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills for team collaboration.
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with i-Logic programming.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and B31.3 for pressure piping.

Key Responsibilities

    • Design and Drafting:
    • Create and modify parametric solid models and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor.
    • Develop 2D fabrication drawings, layouts (DXF files), and BOMs for all sub-assemblies and parts related to process burners and combustion systems.
    • Prepare detailed drawings, including various views, sectional profiles, hidden lines, and intricate details for manufacturing.
    • Ensure that designs adhere to project specifications and meet the necessary standards for production.
    • Perform arithmetic computations using standard formulas and engineering principles for design accuracy.
    • Collaboration with Engineering Team:
    • Assist the project engineering team in confirming equipment selection and design specifications.
    • Review customer mark-up prints, provide feedback, and incorporate design changes as required.
    • Coordinate with engineering and project teams to ensure that all drawings are completed and meet project requirements.
    • Assist in the development of design solutions by providing technical inputs during project execution.
    • Process & Quality Support:
    • Ensure accuracy of your own drawings and review the work of other drafters/designers for precision.
    • Assist in the preparation and revision of design documents and specifications as needed.
    • Ensure that all drawings meet the required standards, including compliance with relevant codes (ASME B31.1, B31.3 for pressure piping where applicable).
    • Support shop visits to resolve design-related issues, provide guidance for production, and assist with design changes required during the project execution phase.
    • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Prepare clear, well-documented design files, reports, and technical drawings, utilizing Microsoft Office and other software for design completion and documentation purposes.
    • Maintain proper filing systems for all drawings and related documentation, ensuring traceability and easy access.
    • Assist in tracking project milestones and contribute to project status updates.

Educational Background

    • Associate's Degree in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of experience.

Experience

    • Minimum 3+ years of experience in drafting/designing, preferably with experience in process burners, combustion equipment, or related industries.
    • Extensive experience using Autodesk Inventor for creating parametric designs, assemblies, and BOMs.
    • Familiarity with i-Logic programming and parametric drawing systems.
    • Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and B31.3 for pressure piping is a plus but not mandatory.

Skills & Competencies

    • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and other CAD tools for both 2D and 3D design.
    • Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles and the ability to interpret and produce technical drawings.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and any web-based design systems for documentation and project tracking.
    • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy in drafting, and the ability to manage multiple design revisions.
    • Strong communication skills to collaborate with engineering teams, project managers, and production teams.
