Job Description

As an Electrical Controls and Automation Engineer, you will design, plan, and oversee the manufacture, installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems in manufacturing. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting control systems, developing PLC programs, drawing electrical schematics, and generating HMI screens. You will also coordinate engineering projects, provide technical support, and research new technologies to enhance process control and efficiency. This role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering or extensive controls background, with a minimum of three years of direct experience.
Must have:
  • Perform engineering work in design, planning & overseeing manufacture, construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical or electronic components, equipment, systems, facilities & machinery.
  • Troubleshoot issues with control systems.
  • Coordinate with others to determine problems and implement solutions.
  • Develop and install machine programs using automation PLC software.
  • Draw electrical schematics (CAD).
  • Generate aesthetic HMI screens for machinery.
  • Formulate & recommend engineering policies & technical work.
  • Ensure sound technical engineering concepts are applied.
  • Plan & coordinate engineering projects.
  • Advise appropriate personnel of the latest technical & engineering developments.
  • Cooperate with Production, Research, and Quality Control departments in preparing production & process designs.
  • Establish uniform specifications for materials & equipment.
  • Provide engineering services to other departments.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to the plants.
  • Investigate production problems.
  • Research technologies new to Precoat Metals to improve process control, lower costs, & increase throughput.
  • Implement non-capital improvements to improve process control & lower costs.
  • Prepare & coordinate short and long-term engineering plans and programs for design, construction, or alteration of activities.
  • Travel to job site to coordinate start-up, performance & testing.

As the selected Electrical Controls and Automation Engineer candidate, you will perform a variety of engineering work in design, planning & overseeing manufacture, construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical or electronic components, equipment, systems, facilities & machinery used in the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Troubleshooting issues with control systems
  • Coordinates with others to determine problems and implement solutions
  • Developing and installing machine programs using automation PLC software
  • Drawing electrical schematics (CAD) to demonstrate how processes will work
  • Generate aesthetic HMI screens for machinery that provide enough feedback for troubleshooting
  • Formulates & recommends engineering policies & technical work in accordance with project objectives.
  • Ensures that sound technical engineering concepts are applied.
  • Plans & coordinates engineering projects that are completed on schedule within cost objectives.
  • Advises appropriate personnel of the latest technical & engineering developments.
  • Cooperates with the Production, Research, and Quality Control departments in preparing production & process designs, and in establishing uniform specifications for materials & equipment.
  • Provides engineering services to other departments as required.
