Freelance Technical Artist, Unity

Onward Search is a specialized staffing and talent solutions company that helps professionals find top jobs with the nation’s leading brands. We’re looking to hire a Freelance Technical Artist, Unity for a fully remote, 6-month contract role with a leading sports technology company.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and optimize art assets, create compelling real-time effects, and streamline production workflows within Unity projects across any U.S. time zone.

Freelance Technical Artist, Unity Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to implement art assets in Unity projects.

• Optimize art assets and shaders for performance in a Windows desktop environment.

• Create and implement visual effects, including particle systems, UI animations, and a mix of baked and dynamic lighting systems for Unity scenes.

• Assist in developing tools and pipelines to streamline art-production workflows.

• Troubleshoot technical issues related to art-asset integration and performance.
  
  

Freelance Technical Artist, Unity Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of 3D graphics principles, including modeling, texturing, lighting, animating, and rendering.

• Proficiency in at least one 3D software package (Maya, Blender, 3ds Max, etc.).

• Experience with shader programming and material creation in Unity.

• Basic understanding of scripting languages such as Python or C#.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Experience creating real-time VFX for Unity.

• Portfolio demonstrating relevant work.

Eligibility requires working over 30 hours per week on an assignment lasting at least 10 weeks.
