Job Description

We are seeking a Global Payroll Transformation Lead for a temporary, full-time fixed-term contract role until the end of 2026 or Q1 2027. As a key member of the HR Transformation Leadership Team, you will lead and project manage the global payroll transformation, ensuring alignment with delivery timelines, program processes, risk management, and stakeholder engagement. Responsibilities include cross-functional collaboration, partnership with the Global Head of Payroll, project management, risk assessment and mitigation, financial oversight, vendor management, change management, performance monitoring, talent management, and project closure. This role requires strategic vision, executive leadership, global coordination, stakeholder management, financial acumen, change management expertise, and strong communication skills.

We are currently offering a temporary role for a Global Payroll Transformation Lead on a full-time fixed-term contract until the end of 2026 / 2027-Q1.

The Role: Global Payroll Transformation Lead

As the Global Payroll Transformation Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving the global payroll transformation project, ensuring alignment with the delivery timeline. As a key member of the HR Transformation Leadership Team, you will be responsible for reporting and managing all aspects of the global payroll transformation project. This includes adherence to program processes, reporting cadence, stage gate requirements, risk management, and engaging with key stakeholders across functions, programs, and external payroll vendors.

Key Responsibilities

As the Global Payroll Transformation Lead, you will be entrusted with high-impact responsibilities that include but not limited to:

  • Transformation Leadership: Lead and project manage the transformation across our complex global payroll landscape to drive consistent, compliant, and cost-effective solutions, minimizing disruption to payroll operations through implementation delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across multiple transformation workstreams to manage interdependencies, lead steering committees, and be accountable for program stage gates and reporting. Act as the primary point of contact for high-level stakeholders, build and maintain strong relationships across different level of the project.  
  • Partnership with Global Head of Payroll: Partner with the Global Head of Payroll to align workload within the project and operational payroll teams, ensuring that the Haleon Payroll teams' workload is manageable and that country payroll handbooks and controls are updated to the new solutions.
  • Project Management: Manage and monitor all payroll transformation sub-initiatives to deliver against the agreed project plan timelines.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess strategic risks that could impact the project's success, developing and implementing comprehensive risk management plans to mitigate these risks. Serve as the escalation point for payroll challenges and be accountable for effective payroll risk management and root cause resolution.
  • Financial Oversight and Budget Management: Oversee the development and management of the project budget, ensuring financial accountability and alignment with financial targets, and providing regular updates to senior leadership.
  • Vendor Management: Manage payroll vendor implementations aligned with country payroll requirements and Haleon standards.
  • Change Management and Transformation: Lead organizational change initiatives related to the project, developing and implementing change management strategies to ensure smooth transitions and stakeholder buy-in.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and Milestones to track project progress, providing regular executive-level reports on project status, risks, and achievements.
  • Talent Management and Development: Lead and mentor a high-performing project team, fostering a culture of excellence, identifying and developing key talent, and promoting professional growth opportunities.
  • Project Closure and Legacy: Ensure successful project completion and the achievement of all strategic objectives, conducting post-project evaluations to capture lessons learned and best practices, and ensuring the project's legacy and benefits are sustained beyond its completion.

What are we looking for?

  • Education: A master’s or bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
  • Experience:
    • At least 15 years of experience leading Global Payroll Transformation projects for multilevel companies.
    • Proven experience on successfully executed end to end Global Payroll Transformation projects.
    • Proven experience on managing payroll operations in multiple countries

  • Skills:
  • Strategic Vision and Planning: Develop and articulate a clear strategic vision aligned with organizational goals.
  • Executive Leadership: Lead and inspire senior-level teams and stakeholders.
  • Global Coordination and Integration: Coordinate and integrate project activities across multiple regions and business units.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with senior executives, clients, and external partners.
  • Risk Management and Mitigation: Identify, assess, and mitigate strategic risks.
  • Financial Acumen: Manage large-scale project budgets and ensure financial accountability.
  • Change Management: Lead organizational change initiatives and manage transformation processes.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track project progress.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce high-quality standards for project deliverables.
  • Talent Management and Development: Lead and mentor high-performing project teams.
  • Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity: Work effectively in a global environment with diverse cultures.
  • Advanced Communication Skills: Communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively to senior stakeholders.
  • Negotiation and Conflict Resolution: Manage stakeholder expectations and resolve conflicts.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Adapt to changing project requirements and environments.
  • Mind set: Positive, focused, and enthusiastic attitude.

  • Education: CIPP qualified, desired not required
  • Location: This is an UK based position; you should be UK based with commuting distance to London.
  • Languages: Hight proficiency in English is required; other languages such as Polish, Spanish, German, French or Japanese are beneficial but not essential.
