We are seeking a Head of Engineering for the Pricing and Reference Services division to lead design and delivery for the DataScope suite of products within the Data Platforms Group. This role involves significant input into the technical product roadmap, accountability for design decisions, and responsibility for timely feature delivery and high-quality service to a global client base. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent engineering leadership, data-driven decision making, and a passion for cultivating engineering talent.

  • Control costs, especially resource and cloud related.
  • Deliver on LSEG’s strategy of insourcing top talent.
  • Lead and report on department Key Performance Indicators, controls, projects, budget, incidents, and risk management.
  • Promote a “risk first” approach, automation, strong cyber security, and constantly improving service.
  • Ensure client needs met by DataScope are available on strategic data platform.
  • Proven engineering experience designing, operating, and running large enterprise-scale systems (on-premises and cloud - AWS, Azure).
  • Experience leading large, global engineering delivery and 24/7 support teams across multiple time zones.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with multiple collaborators and partners.
  • Significant people management, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Energetically drive continuous improvements and simplify systems.
  • Experience working in a complex, changing, and matrix reporting environment.
  • Management of multi-million budgets to remain within cost and delivery targets.
  • Experience of driving business and technology strategy.

Job Details

We are looking for a Head of Engineering for our Pricing and Reference Services division who will lead the design and delivery for the DataScope suite of products as part of the Data Platforms Group. In this role you will have key input into the technical product roadmap, be accountable for all design decisions, be responsible for the timely delivery of features and enhancements whilst delivering a high quality of service to our global client base. You will also demonstrate excellent engineering leadership skills with data-driven decision making and a passion for cultivating the talent of our engineers.

What you’ll be doing

As senior owner of engineering you’ll be:

  • Collaborating closely with all areas of the LSEG business and group functions, including Proposition, Product, Risk, Infrastructure and Support Services.
  • Ensuring that our systems remain strong and stable and are well-designed and scalable to enable future growth, high data volumes and the low latency that our clients need.
  • Planning for growth and delivering on strategic programs including re-architecting applications to Azure technologies, which includes:
  • Migrating existing DataScope application components and their infrastructure dependencies to Azure, taking advantage of this process to enhance elasticity.
  • Working with D&A Engineering leads to leverage the strategic DaaS platform on Azure Fabric to serve the data management requirements which underpin the DataScope product set.
  • Working to ensure engineering is product-centric, agile in nature with decisions that are driven on data and metrics.
  • Closely controlling all costs, especially those that are resource and cloud related.
  • Delivering on LSEG’s strategy of insourcing top talent to the organization and champion that talent by mentoring, guiding and providing opportunities for our engineers. This is achieved using the LSEG career framework, holding regular reviews and one-to-ones with direct reports and team members.
  • Leading and reporting on department Key Performance Indicators, key controls, project work, budget, incidents and risk management.
  • Promoting key principles including a “risk first” approach, automation over manual working, strong cyber security, and constantly improving service.
  • Continually working to ensure that clients’ needs that are currently met by the DataScope product suite will be available on our strategic data platform.

What you’ll bring

  • A desire to ensure we delight our clients and constantly elevate how we operate.
  • Proven engineering experience designing, operating and running large enterprise-scale systems with large data volumes and low latency requirements; both in on-premises data centers and in cloud (AWS and Azure).
  • Experience in leading large, global engineering delivery and 24/7 support teams across multiple time zones.
  • The ability to build and maintaining positive relationships with multiple collaborators and partners, who may be remote from you.
  • Significant people management, leadership and communication skills to ensure all team members are nurtured and talent is cultivated.
  • Energetically driving continuous improvements and simplifying our systems where possible.
  • Experience working in a complex, changing and matrix reporting environment.
  • Management of multi-million budgets to remain within cost and delivery targets.
  • Experience of driving business and technology strategy and open to working cross-functionally to deliver pivotal initiatives.
  • Willingness to travel to meet with engineering teams and clients.
