Job Description

Wind River Systems is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to develop and maintain Wind River Studio Conductor, a distributed cloud-based orchestration and automation platform for intelligent 5G edge networks. This role involves enhancing features, utilizing open-source and proprietary code, and working with technologies like Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker. The engineer will collaborate with multiple teams across the Wind River ecosystem to ensure seamless integration of products like Wind River Cloud Platform and Analytics, contributing to a unified system for managing and automating application deployment in large-scale distributed environments.
Must have:
  • Develop and enhance features in the Conductor Product.
  • Use Open Source and proprietary code to contribute to the features of the product.
  • Utilize Agile Process to complete your work.
  • Work with Kubernetes (K8S), Helm, Docker.
  • Work as part of a team focused on containerization and fault tolerant/carrier grade deployment.
  • Work with and utilize StarlingX.
  • Develop and deliver platform features with high quality design and code.
  • Investigate and resolve issues reported during product verification and customer integration.
  • Implement, debug and contribute to automation and features for Wind River Conductor product.
  • Work with other Members of Technical Staff on various solutions.
  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field.
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 3+ years of programming experience with Python.
  • 2+ years of contribution to new and current systems.
Good to have:
  • 5+ years of professional experience in building infrastructure software for highly scalable and distributed systems.
  • Track record of building and delivering mission critical, 24x7 production software systems.
  • Exposure to Gerrit, Zuul.
  • Experience with modifying and enhancing Linux build systems.
  • Contribution to the open-source community.
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in Kubernetes and one of the following: Python, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, YAML, TOSCA, UI/NodeJs/ReactJS, Typescript, Sematntic.
  • Familiarity with Agile development and Dev Ops a significant asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Comfortable working in a distributed development environment with regular business travel.
  • Proven ability to work across many technology areas, act proactively and own a problem.
  • Able to enthusiastically work, interact with and educate diverse groups such as sales, marketing, business development, partners, support, etc.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Wind River Systems is building Wind River Studio for Operators, delivering an integrated cloud platform, unifying infrastructure, orchestration, and analytics capabilities so operators can deploy and manage their intelligent 5G edge networks globally. Wind River Systems is seeking an experienced, high-performing Senior Engineer Software Engineer developing distributed cloud-based orchestration and automation platform solution for the intelligent edge.

The orchestration capabilities in Wind River Studio give you a single pane of glass to manage and automate application deployment in a large-scale distributed environment. Pick the applications you need from an app catalog, deploy them to a carrier-grade cloud platform, and orchestrate the resources needed for the applications — simply, intuitively, and logically. Scale from a handful of nodes to thousands of nodes in a geographically dispersed distributed environment.

What you’ll do:

Utilizing your extensive experience as a Software Engineer to develop and maintain Wind River Studio Conductor, for multi-cloud automation.

Who You Will Work With:

You will be working with multiple teams across the Wind River ecosystem to enhance automation and orchestration with our products in Wind River Cloud Platform, Wind River Analytics and other products. You role will work with other Members of Technical Staff and contractors in multiple countries. You will be contributing to making an entire system work of Wind River products to work together seamlessly.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Wind River Conductor product, which is part of Wind River Studio and Wind River Cloud Platform products.
  • Develop and Enhance features in the Conductor Product.
  • Use Open Source, and proprietary code to contribute to the features of the product
  • Utilize Agile Process to complete your work.
  • Work with the most dynamic and exciting open-source software projects today – Kubernetes (K8S), Helm, Docker, etc.
  • Work as part of a team focused on containerization and fault tolerant/carrier grade deployment.
  • Work with and utilize StarlingX (https://www.starlingx.io/).
  • Develop and deliver platform features with high quality design and code.
  • Investigate and resolve issues reported during product verification and customer integration.
  • Implement, debug and contribute to automation and features for Wind River Conductor product.
  • Work with other Members of Technical Staff on various solutions.

Core Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field.
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 3+ years of programming experience with Python
  • 2+ years of contribution to new and current systems.
